Other than the DD tanks none of “Hobart’s Funnies” were operated by Americans or on any of the US beaches on D-Day, yet the German Sergeant taken prisoner describes seeing one on Utah Beach.

Crap! The USA had 2 out of 5 beaches for the initial landings.................... the UK and Canada had the other3.

Hmmm… at about 31:00 a German is captured by a U.S. Marine. Seems unlikely.

The D-Day landing were carried-out by British, Canadian forces as well as American. The overall plans were British and they landed as successfully as could be expected. The Americans made a complete mess of everything, including land on the wrong(!!!) beach. They would have been repulsed if not for the actions of the British navy that moved very close inshore to shell the German defenders. The Americans even messed up erecting their Mulberry artificial docking structure. Theirs fell apart just three days after landing. Mulberries were a British invention designed to speed-up the movement of heavy equipment. Naturally the British Mulberry was built properly and was used by American. But it’s even worse. The British designed a system to allow tanks to float onto the beaches. But in the event the weather wasn’t suitable, so the British abandoned the floating mechanism. But, of course, the Americans carried-on with the original plan and a great many of their tanks just sank under the waves. Americans can’t fight wars unless the can overwhelm the opposition by shear numbers.

Oldman.....everything you posted is utter bullshit. I don't have the time or energy to counter every falsehood you have posited so I'll just say that your revisionist history has zero relation to the actual events.

From DoD website. Utah Beach. Utah was the most western beach between Pouppeville and La Madeleine, three miles long, assigned to the U.S. 1st Army, 7th Corps. Casualties were the lightest of all landings - out of 23,000 troops, only 197 men were killed or wounded. It was divided into zones assigned Tare Green, Uncle Red and Victor.

I love this this series but what is it with the weird pronunciations. Sometimes a word is pronounced correctly and 20 seconds later mispronounced so as to be almost indecipherable

I think this is text to speech where the text is coming from print or from formatting software that makes sure the borders all line up, causing words to be split between lines.

The title of this is ridiculous as it was the Soviets who defeated Germany at Kursk. I think these titles are contrived to flatter the bulk of the audience. I wish the marketing of history would be more genuine and less simplistic.

It was a combined effort, because the United States was fighting in Africa, Italy and Sicily, in addition to fighting in the Pacific, and then ultimately Europe. Definitely the Soviet union lost far more ground and death of civilians in troops during World War II but for capital of Poland, lost the most overall.. the sad thing about the Soviet says that they killed their own POWs, because Stalin ordered them to calling them cowards. The Americans start of the wind lease program with the UK in March 1941 with the UK and probably about a year later with the Soviet Union. The reason it was done is to keep the people alive because the Germans have destroyed 75% or more of the Soviet crops, and the people would’ve starve to death. In addition, food was sent to the UK as well and the Soviet union also got big trucks so they could transport troops, supplies and weapons in addition to Sherman tanks that they used in addition to their T34 and whatever else they wanted. The T 34 was a stronger tank but some Soviets like the sermon because it was smaller and more Agil, so it depended on the person. Of course the Soviets lost so much territory to the Germans because they were called completely off guard despite the British and French telling Stalin that Germany was going to invite them in early April 1941 & Stalin wouldn’t believe it and then when it occurred in June, he was so shocked she disappeared for four months or so, and then reappeared in kick ass mode. I had to block the Soviet Union and the people their overall for fighting.! Stalin was focused on protecting the motherland during World War II and then it wasn’t until late 1944 after he had taken back Soviet territory and central and eastern Europe then he started focusing on turning the area into communism so Stalin politicized it pretty well.yes!! The Soviets did fight a lot, but they lost a lot of ground from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and half of Poland all the way to Stalingrad, and they had to kick the Germans out of all that area which was a lot and the Americans in the UK allowed the Soviets to take Berlin and it was a revenge thing. Stalin would get Haughty at Churchill sometimes in Churchhill said “ don’t you dare lecture me, Comrade Stalin, because you were giving the oil and gas to the Nazis when they were bombing Britain!” They had their arguments, but at least the allies didn’t stab each other in the back, and I give the Japanese credit for not ever stabbing the Soviets in the back like the Germans did after they signed a nonaggression pact with them. The truth is that the majority of the Soviet people would’ve starved & frozen to death if it wouldn’t have been for Lend lease. It’s just because VAC at that time America was a mass manufacturing industrial power house and they need everything whether it was clothing, blankets, coats, and shoes, boots, etc. etc. in addition to all kinds of artillery and food galore just send the Soviet Union. You can say the Soviets were fighting, and definitely by the time the battle of Kursk occurred, but kicking the Germans out of Stalingrad was pretty impeccable.!! It was so awful and Stalingrad didn’t even the poor citizens they were eating rats. Nasty. people like us can’t even comprehend the suffering they went through and it’s a good thing the Americans had lend lease. I’m sure it was probably about that time and 42 that the program probably started because America didn’t get into the war until after December 1941 sometime & allied with the Soviet union sometime in 1942. Moreover, it was really a team effort. Listening to this video, you have to look at the fact of who the Germans were fighting on the ground at this time and if they were fighting the Americans and British, they knew the British got the bulk of the supplies from America. German troops always said that the French word methodical, and the British were very professional and the Americans were fierce and very technologically advanced but they were also a bit reckless at times. They would consider it taking risks because they believe that nothing is gain, but taking a calculated risk for the Germans, believe it to be reckless.

Also the Allied bombing effort forced the Nazis to divert fighter planes away from the eastern front to protect Germany

@@chriswilliamson4693 After Kursk Germany had lost the war. What remained was a question of who would occupy Germany and France after the war.

Yes the soviets did the heavy lifting. Took out 80% of the wermacht. But I've learned myself that after Falaise and with the loss of Luftwaffe due primarily to the 8th airforce- The Americans (and Brits) did put the nail in the coffin for Germany. This title is not untrue.

The battle of Kursk was just one battle. The most important strategic battles that rventually won thd wsr werd the bztyle of Britain and thd battle of the atlantic. Without these there would not even have been a battle of Kursk. The Wermacht would have overun the Ussr .
