Niall is correct that disruptive change almost always has backlash, but that backlash no matter how large has historically been much less significant than the magnitude of progress unlocked by civilization. I'm not sure why he even considers the fall of the Catholic church due to the printing press a warning of consequences. Also even the most optimistic technologists understand that technology is inherently neutral, neither good nor evil. It will be misused, and that struggle may well be the conflict he references that generates future progressions.

That is an exemplary interpretation. Might I add that this may very well be a cycle, of sorts. A cycle of momentum and inertia. Now that is something that could have devastating effects on us as a species from a perspective in time; how less of it we really have to survive enduring constant backlash at every technological innovation. We might not. So as a person of interest in the fields Niall belongs to, I have a feeling the need is to mitigate the backlash and zero in on every countermeasure ever taken, how it may have failed importantly, and devise ways to ease the mass adaptation to the revolution. Supporting Neri more than anyone, dare I say, Evolution.

Neri was just like no. and I do, more than anything, stand by that. But at the same time, Niall's points aren't at all unfounded. I believe though, being focused over the measures needed to soothe mass adaptation to an inevitable technological advance, is what is supposed to be looked at. How it happened, and failed many a time, in the past; how it has been happening now and how it shall unfold tomorrow.

I feel like Niall lied about being in a Tesla that one time. It's fairly a manipulative use of details, just as Nicholas pointed out with his use of the word "resistance", which is a severely dangerous thing to do. Your could be stating a strong truth, a fact even, but if you rely on pesky sneaky petty little lies to put your point forward, to boost it, that will definitely, if discovered, will be considered blatant fantasy. A lie.

I didn't particularly agree with Niall's opinions, but it makes no sense for you to just randomly speculate that he's a liar, and then go on to construct an argument against him based on that speculation. That's clearly manipulative, even if that's maybe not your actual intention.
