Gibson, good points, some of the pick ups, scale length and neck. Bad points break angles durrrp, lets make an instrument that wont stay in tune and will break its own headstock off at the drop of a hat, but probably their worst fault, is that its made by Gibson in the USA so the workmanship is dire. some if not most Epiphones are better than gibsons already

I own a few Gibsons and several Epis. The latter win. They came absolutely flawless and look and sound great. Gibsons all came with some flaws (paint, or inaccurate assembly of knobs, jack, etc) showing bad workmanship and poor quality screening before shipment to shop.

The original Epiphones were the real deal. I've had the chance to play a 40's Emperor...absolutely amazing in all aspects. It would be great to see them as a premium brand again. Problem is the cost would prohibit most players from buying one. :-/
