I have a guitar Identical to that one. It was my Dads, who was a professional guitar player, and a huge Chet Atkins fan. My Dad always thought that it was a 1964, but it has a plain head stock, and looks EXACTLY like this one. So I think it has to be a 62 or 63, if they started putting the Block on the head stock in 64. The pick guard has some cracks around the screw and the binding has some cracks. Other then that, it is in very good condition. Still in the original case, and still has the flat wound strings, that my dad always used on it.

I really love Gretsch drums and guitars and I hope that Gretsch will move back to Brooklyn someday but in a new facility because we have had no full drum and guitar production and manufacturing here in New York since 1969 (which was the year that Baldwin screwed up Gretsch production by moving them from Brooklyn to Arkansas which resulted in 2 horrible factory fires) back to my home of New York City which I hope happens someday. #MAKEBROOKLYNGRETSCHAGAIN

I wonder if a Luthier has ever added a couple of dummy toggle switches to a guitar just for fun. Excellent guitar, content, editing playing and filming btw. Thanks!
@FloodExterminator7 жыл бұрын
Sky King I know that James Hetfield's signature ESP Les Paul shapes have a dummy toggle switch where there LP's pickup selector would be, the real one is where one of the 4 pots would normally be
@crazyuncleduke80127 жыл бұрын
Leland Sklar has a dummy switch in his Warwick Bass. He calls it the producer switch. When the producer asks for a different bass tone he flips the switch and moves his hand position closer to the neck or bridge.. :-)
@fenderjazz62137 жыл бұрын
Crazy Uncle Duke Yea, I read that a while ago in bass player mag. That's fricken funny, and the producers nod their heads and go " yea that's good". Shows you how much some of them really listen.
@JammyGit7 жыл бұрын
I'm liking the sound of those Hi-Lo Trons. They're amongst some of the nicest clean tones I've heard.I might have to have a peek on TV Jones website and see how much his version of these pickups cost, and then count up my pennies and cross my fingers & hope for the best that someone here in England has some kind of black Friday deal I can afford 👍

I actually think that was a cherry walnut originally, I have a ‘67 I got new and just last week when I changed my strings I did a deep cleaning and polishing and when I moved the Bigsby back you could see how much it faded! I love my CAT as much now as the day I got it! 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻

As I understand it, when Chet Atkins jumped ship to Gibson, the latter started to make various Chet Atkins guitars, including the Tennessean. My question is: how do the Gibsons compare with the Gretsches? Xan McCurdy gets a great sound (IMHO) on his Gibson Tennessean. Do I have something wrong with my eyes, or was part of the video slightly out of focus? Ditto my ears, the G-string sounded ever so slightly flat on Ticket to Ride.
