Subaru has actually explained her voice "changing" before. She basically said that she's typically a very loud person on her own and so she lowers her voice around other people so she isn't super loud on their ears and mics.

I was about to comment this. She also mentioned on multiple occasions that she bought a mic specifically for her that can deal with her loud voice. Back when she did the off-collab with Choco, Luna, Shion and Ayame, she sat in the back because if she was to sit too close to the mic she'd be drowning out the others. The "natural" voice that's showed in this baseball clip is actually her soft voice which comes out when she needs to focus really hard. She also used that voice on a Mario Kart game if I'm not mistaken. The duck voice is her normal voice.

i am here with yet another bit of extra info, this time about our beloved duck. Subaru is one of the channels with a large viewership from overseas (i think it was more that 20%, maybe 30% by now) her morning streams is basically her talking about a lot of random stuff, and they are really interesting, since she talk about other girls, their interactions, things she likes and dislikes, and it make us feel closer to her, i think that is one of the big reasons why she is so clipped. An aditional bit of info, Subaru was born with a rare disease in her heart, she was a sick girl during all her young days and couldnt barely do anything without her life being at risk, she actually survived through it and got an operation that went perfectly fine, and got a miracolous recovery out of it. Her desing is the one of a spirited girl, a sports lover, because when she steped out of the operation room and recovered, the first thing she did was something simple, but that she couldnt do during a long time, she ran, all over the hospital, whithout any risk of dying out of it. And after that, she found a love for sports, and so her desing portraits the beisbol loving girl she is, a sports maniac you could say. This is also the reason why she is so extroverted, she learned the hard way that she needed to act and not doubt, because each day could have been her last day. This experiences transformed her in the person she is today, and oh boy how much we love that person.

Her attitude towards life is why I love Subaru so much. I experienced a similar situation in my personality growing extroverted due to isolation. I was a pretty quiet kid up until 9th grade when I decided to homeschool (not because I was being bullied or anything like that, it was just more convenient for my larger family) There was a significant period of time where I litterally didn't talk to anyone, not by choice but because I simply _couldn't._ I was at home, everybody else was at school busy. I had no one to talk to. I was used to friends finding me. I was that kid, the one who draws other people to him and is on good terms with everyone. I never had to seek anybody out, they'd come to me. I had a lot of time to think. Think about what kind of person I am, wonder if I really dislike people as much I think I do. Am I really that introverted? Months alone in my room, loneliness eating me alive said no. I got sick of it, realized I wanted to _talk_ to people. I got together with my old friends and sort of scared myself with how social I was. I had never done anything like that before, sought people out, started conversations and carried them for hours. I'm still that social, talkative person today. That relatability is why I enjoy just listening to Subaru talk about stuff for hours. Or, you know, maybe it's because I'm really into tomboy's... It's gotta be at least one of them.

A decent chunk of the girls in Hololive actually have some sad backgrounds Subaru's house burned down and she was alone with her dog a lot because her parents worked long hours. her house was also supposedly haunted so she stood outside for long hours waiting for her parents. she was born with a hole in her heart so she couldnt run or exercise much, also lived in a hospital for several years as a kid. Haachama is a foreigner in another country (Originally from Japan) and the family she stays with (apparently happens to be legit relatives) doesnt really like her. she has never really had a meal made for her after around 15/16, which is why she doesnt know how to cook well and why trash seems tasty. Kanata was a sheltered, child who wanted to be an idol (IRL) but was told she wouldnt get anywhere by her mom. eventually moved out, lived alone, didnt have much money or food so she was basically starving (she states she liked to cook for fun because she didnt have internet or anything to do). she also ate grass as a kid (she states she ate grass because she was hungry and there was no food at home and no one at home to make anything to eat). Also called a gorilla as a kid which has become a meme because she a 50kg or 110 pound grip strength. Suisei was an independent Vtuber with little success (creating & editing her own video and music, etc). she almost didnt make the cut for Hololive because she was a jack of all trades and master of none (had to reapply 2 or more times). Her character is actually the same as her old Vtuber model because she didnt want to have to start a new one and lose everything. Noel's family was poor and was she called ""running tiddy cow" (large breast i believe). she also did kendo (japanese sword? stuff) so she ate a lot. Rushia was apparently almost kidnapped as a kid in kindergarten but saved by her brother. Watame had a single mom and grandma (dad ran off). before she was born, her mom asked if the dad wanted the baby and he said he would rather give it (watame) to an orphanage. Amelia has a ton of accidents, many of which (i believe) were life threatening There's probably more but searching through 20+ different members is pretty hard to find. the info comes from translated clips.

Subaru's voice must hurt after she finishes streaming. That is pretty impressive to keep the same voice for hours at a time talking constantly. I'm curious if her character voice is influencing her real voice. These streamers probably talk more using their character voice now than their real voice.

Most of them use nearly her natural voice on stream, in reality. Subaru's "big sister" voice is when she's very concentrated or relaxed. Same, when they are sleepy or alike, their voice is naturally different, or when they sing (singing voice is always different from "normal" voice, and for everyone). Then there's the one that simply are talented as seiyuu, like Risu or Fubuki (but fubuki voice is basically her natural voice).

The voice she uses when streaming is the one she is most comfortable with. I mean, forcing a difficult voice for 1 - 3 hours, 6 days a week for over 2 years? Of course not, she just uses a tone that's a bit overly excited. The one she has trouble with is her low voice, since it puts a strain on her abs. Like after she sings a song with a low voice she ends up exhausted and needs some wind-down time. I think she even makes some breathing excercises after a song with a low voice, but it may just be one of the silly thing she does, don't know.

Man, I love Subaru so much, she is so effing positive. Whatever clip of her that I watch, I am smiling by the end, it's great. And that stuff at the end, it seems that is kinda her whole life, she was raised poor-ish, but grew up to be an outgoing, pleasant person, and that's fantastic. From what I heard, she is also a real hardworker, like how knew close to nothing of dancing and singing before hololive, but once she joined, she decided to give her all and learned well how to be a proper idol, and she is the type that watches her own clips to see what she is doing that is working and what isn't, to make better streams, you know? I'm glad she is well-liked, cause she deserves it more than ost people for how much effort and positivity she keep pulling out, a real "idol" in the sense that she is worth looking up to.
