Hey, I know I'm a little late to this episode, but I have a rules question about this episode in particular: Couldn't Holly as the psychopath have chosen herself on the final day to leave only Carley and Laurie and thus fulfilling the evil team's win condition before nominations were even open? Didn't matter here, but could have, if there had still been other ghost votes left.

I felt bad for Laurie in this game. He lost on a technicality. He thought he couldn't be the host because his Poppygrower power seemed to be working the whole game. By the time Ben clarified it, the game was already over. (The rest of town is also responsible for wasting all of their dead votes on Carley for no reason, but they were also somewhat misled into thinking it was definitely their final day when it wasn't.)

Literally the only way the evil could have lost on the "real" final day was if Holly used her Psychopath power to kill Laurie. There was absolutely nothing good could have done to save the game after they executed Carley. Ben was 100% correct: failing to correctly execute on that day lost them the game.

The irony is that Ben talked about how the storyteller should correct and inform players if they are basing their thought process on the misunderstanding of rules and interactions, specifically regarding Laurie’s role and being poisoned, the night after the entire town does just that with it being emphasized no less than twice that the basis for the thought process and their actions was the very misunderstanding being discussed as a hypothetical by Ben when it had in fact occurred.

Carley is honestly too good at this game. It imbalances the game in favor of whatever team is Carley is on. It's not her fault, she's brilliant, but it makes things tricky for the storyteller because it's like she's been given an extra power -- the power to figure everything out with like 3 well-placed questions.

I felt sooooo bad for Laurie this time. As if it was bad enough before, now he had to watch as Carley took another Victory lap... I was really hoping he'd figure out Holly tipping her hand when she voted for Adam, and also didn't immediately axe him when he outted himself as the Poppy Grower. Even if Holly had or hadn't known her demon, a bluff for Poppy Grower would have been enough for a potential reveal, but she clearly knew Dom was the safe hatchet throw... Still an awesome game in the end.

I was disappointed in Ben for not clarifying to Laurie that being poisoned is irrelevant to his ability. Laurie specifically brought it up twice within 60 seconds. When Adam B raised the issue during Night 5 it was already too late. Quite often we fall victim to not knowing the logical minutiae of the game, information that nobody should be expected to know off the top of their head which a DM could easily explain.

Yea its the worst way to lose a game, not understanding the rules/ how the rules interact with each other. The only defense I can say is that Laurie didn't ask he just assumed he knew, but thats not really a great excuse. But it was already a shot in the dark at that point in the game there's no guarantee Laurie would have made the right play even if he knew the rules

Poppy grower seems to be fairly unintuitive from what I've seen. Its interaction with drunk/poisoned and with vortox always seems to leave someone confused.

Well, that was an absolute minefield of a script, good job successfully navigating it to an exciting conclusion. I felt like there were so many times it could have just snowballed for a side, but it never happened. You took a risk to show off some interesting characters and it absolutely paid off. Well done!

Carley’s conversation with Holly very much reminds me of the one she had with with Angela as the Damsel, except this one is much more sinister lol. Also nice to see Blair get the Evil win. I think she played a pretty pivotal role too - the false Balloonist info she gave helped convince the Town to execute Carley, which sealed the game for her team. Edit: Also, I watch a lot of BOTC on the official stream, where players are eager to be turned evil, and the Mezepheles will often out themselves before giving them the Mezepheles word. So it was kind of fun to see it played this way.

I really hope they've found a way to shoot an in person game that works..... having watched in person games of clocktower they aren't great viewing even on the official channel. Works perfectly as an online game particularly from a viewers perspective where you are privy to important conversations and pivotal game moments and getting players thoughts and theory's. Also really shrinks the possible cast and we'll lose some favourites. Shall watch in hope more than expectation, they have the best format for clocktower on yt already and I wouldn't throw it away so readily - let's hope this works as well.

To be honest, the best Blood on the Clocktower streaming experience so far is with Patters (an official regular) since his BotC setup is pure bliss. That being said tho, IRL games can work perfectly if they have their own "house"; a larger place that is sectioned off for privacy reason so they can have private chats. Also keep in mind that its not live. It will basically be probably shot with 5+ cameras (main room has 3+, and each private section has one) and then skillfully edited so it flows well. I dont worry too much about this. If they would say "yeah we be doing IRL games live now", then I would be worried. In order for the camera to work, you can even mark places on the ground. like "stand here to be perfectly in shot".

I think they probably will. At least Carley, if not both of them. She is too big a part of the NRB BotC games for her not to be there for their first in-person game. Unfortunately, I don't see how either of them could be there for future games after that, if they continue to be done in-person. They can't be flying out to the UK every month, nor could NRB really afford to do that. Our only hope is that they actually film like 6 to 12 episodes at a time, and maybe fly them out every 6 months or every year. Not sure if that's feasible, but it's the only way we could get Carley/Angela in every in-person episode.

He literally said that he can't be host because his ability worked when they were deciding who to vote on. He'd know Psychopath didn't attack him when he told her what he is, so he's obviously host. Also, there was no need for voting shenanigans. You could've just called the game after Carley didn't die. All Holly has to do is kill herself with her own ability. Done. What made it even more sad was that Ben talked about how the storyteller should correct and inform players if they are basing their thought process on the misunderstanding of rules and interactions, specifically regarding Laurie’s role and being poisoned, the night after the entire town does just that with it being emphasized no less than twice that the basis for the thought process and their actions was the very misunderstanding being discussed as a hypothetical by Ben when it had in fact occurred.

Yeeessss, Adam back as the storyteller. I do love this, even if just for the throwback indeed. Though I do miss Toms pretty smooth voice that just flows so nicely. Oh god, Laurie as the Poppygrower playing host to Carley. This is absolutely delicious. I would have had the same assumption Adam had there and had thought that the evil players now would have learned about each other. 'There's a psychopath at the door, let me quickly start a cult.' Absolutely logical, thank you. Though I do feel for poor Laurie. Poor guy.

@@diamondsky3787 How? Both Carley and Laurie's abilities never got shown to be poisoned so they were both equally likely. Ben steps in to explain rules like this all the time and him not doing the same in this instance is only because he always wants evil to win.

Excellent as always!!!! I dont actually normally root for evil but man was it a stressful ride this time. Holly being both an enormous hindrance (killing half the evil team) and an absolute vital part of evil plan (allowing each evil to know at least one person they could trust, and also being a giant distraction) was a rollercoaster. Love it, love it, love it. In person will be fun, can Tom play?!!!!! Also, does that mean no Carley? :(

If good paid just a little more attention this round they would have won. When Laurie outed himself as the Poppy-Grower, and then didn't die in the night, it should have been obvious he was the leech host. No demon would let a Poppy Grower live otherwise. Also to point out, Holly should have done a true psychopath play, kill Laurie and be the only player left standing anyway, a Psychopath evil team slaughter
