North Bend residents voice landslide concerns over proposed new development

Developers sued the local government to build homes in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA despite many long-held concerns about landslides. Look at it now and learn from it. Now, the area is smaller, but they’d have to reduce the slope, reinforce the ground (piers, retaining walls, etc.), add a lot of rainwater management & drainage, and attach foundations to the bedrock they claim exists to minimize the load new houses, driveways, etc. add to the soil.

Require the builder to put up a 10+ million dollar bond to cover the cost of buying out the homes below if there are problems. If the land is as stable as they say, they should have no issue doing that.

All it is, is a small group of old people that do not want more development around their quiet street. They are not concerned with landslide, just using it legally to stop development. Its obvious

It is a bunch of old people that do not want development around them. This is dumb. There are homes on mts, ridges, cliffs, hills etc. all without problems. Even highways cut into a hill.
