Congrats man. I use to train under you, and you helped me grow to the tech I am today.

i got mine 2 years ago in March. It definitely gives a sense of freedom not having to jump through the hoops to order parts and equipment on your own. I've been working for a large commercial company for the last 2 1/2 years and do my own residential thing afterhours. Thinking about making the jump in a couple of years or 2. Theres just so much to learn, especially on the business side. I see alot of voyager 3s , intellipaks, chilled water stuff and the way you explain your thought process especially on the high end equipment makes it easy to understand. congrats on the accomplishment

Congrats Charles! I went up to Raleigh back in 1980 and spent 1 1/2 days getting H1, H2 & H3 class I, I feel your pain but also feel your relief after you pass! 🙂 I have watched many of your videos and you deserve it sir!
@BLUAIRHVAC14 күн бұрын
I do not plan on getting the other 2! H3-1 is all I need for my situation. I could not imagine doing this back then. I don't know what the process was back then with prep and studying, but doing 3 in 2 days would be a task. Hats off to you!

@@BLUAIRHVAC There wasn't anyone to help us back then for the license's unfortunately Charles. I was lucky enough to know a few very good mechanical engineers and was going thru CPCC college & took extra design classes thru York Tech college in SC that CPCC didn't teach that used the proper books. Actually the first test was in 1980 H-3 II then I took all three class I in April 1983 when NC State won their basketball championship so did two test with NO sleep due to town partying all night! I did start a night class with mechanical engineer to help other students pass the exam for free since I was so frustrated for proper guidance to pass exams but soon after the program director at CPCC started a business for pay like you went thru. My dream was to start my own HVAC company so got my South Carolina commercial AC-3 & HT-3 contractors license too but after 13 years of being on call I decided I wanted a home/family life & stepped into BAS controls then into the energy field which was a perfect transition! I still love troubleshooting HVAC systems and install for family and close friends when the need arises. I understand you with done with test as I am nearing the end of my career and agree I am done with test too but if you ever had a need for the H2 now would be the time to do it while fresh in your mind and updated books but understand how you feel. Thanks again for your well made HVAC videos Charles I thoroughly enjoy them my friend! 🙂

You deserve it. If I can get it you can too. I took Mikes course and passed the first time for H3 Class I. Going back to him for my SP PH here in the spring.

Very much worth the cost and time. Mike knows his stuff. Thanks and good luck. Will be my last test.

Congratulations man. The testing process is a royal pain. I have found over the years that anytime the government is involved in anything it is always a pain in the butt to navigate. Customer service lacks in a big way, you are treated with indifference, and it is all about them making some money. Just another hoop you have to jump through. I used At Home Prep. It is an online set up where you go through your classes online at your own pace and can take as many practice tests as you want. Made it pretty easy. They give you a score here in Tennessee, so you know how many questions you missed, but they don't tell you which questions you miss unless you pay extra money. Go figure. Big accomplishment. Proud of you bud.

Thanks Jake! Should have done it a while back, but better late than never. It is something that no employer can take from you and it will always be yours to own! Your skill and ability is something that is always yours to own when you are in the trades! This separates you from CHUCK! Let's people know you have pride and respect for what you do!
@BLUAIRHVAC15 күн бұрын
We just get a pass / fail. Pass is enough for me. But service and field experience really does not play into it. Did not get but maybe 3-5 questions that related to field experience. They just want you to show that you know how to reference the books properly and show that you can get the information to do the work properly.

Just got my Alabama License last year. I think we had 6 books plus the ductulator. Got so mad when a plumber and electrician showed up with 2 books for their test.

I`m down in Mobile, thinking about testing for mine. What specific books will I need?
@BLUAIRHVAC15 күн бұрын
Our states website gives us all the info for applying and a book list, not sure about BAMA, BUT IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME. Each state has different requirements. Good luck, it is a license that will open doors for you in the Trades and set you apart from the rest.
@josefmerritt184915 күн бұрын
Long story short, I was told they were changing the test in 2025. Adding some to it. But just Google Alabama HVAC Board and you will find the resources

I remember my teacher say take everything you know about hvac put it in a box and store it in a closet. Just act like you know nothing except what the book says😂 Once you’re done bring back your box you left in the closet.

What’s very strange where I live in New York there is no HVAC liscense you just need your 608 and general contractor liscense and insurance etc but for plumbing and electrical is super strict you need about 8 years of pay stubs working under a liscensed plumber than you can take the test.
@BLUAIRHVAC14 күн бұрын
Here you need 2 yrs 4000 hrs work experience under a licensed contractor. They sign off on your application and you send it in to the state board to schedule your test date. Then you get your books and prep.

I took mine here in Texas about 20 years ago. It was timed a 4 hours. You almost need a two wheel truck for all the books alone. I passed the first time but not by much.

Texas has three levels. All technicians are required to have one as a minimum. The first one is registered, second is certified, and the third level is contractor. All are required to pass a background check, and re-register annually. Contractors are required to have general liability insurance and take 8 hours of continuing education annually. Congratulations!

Thanks Sir
@TRUSTEDHeatAC14 күн бұрын
Just to be clear, there’s only one air conditioning contractor license for Texas. What you’re referring to is a technician and certified technician, but those do not license a person to contract and charge for services.

When I did my test for the mechanical license they were testing for electrical and plumbing at the same time, there was four people per table, I think the electricians and plumbers would have two to four books, which I had twelve, there was not enough room on the table to lay my books out without stacking them. This was back in 2005, I thought that was a cluster ****

Congrats Charles. So the renewals and ce credits. And I know the feeling with my pa life and health license for which I took the test in 2012. And I still have a few residual states including yours charies. But so I never have to do that test again I do take my ce credits every 2 year online and then renew my pa state license. And charles how you feel about the government and hvac is how I feel about the government and Medicare stuff like Medicare advantage plans and part d. Ans even med supps that's why I got out of it with all the ahip certs and that was starting in 2017. Under trumps first term but charies I hate enrollment periods for any insurance whether aca or Medicare and I hate late enrollment penalties too. But that was 2005 under W bush not Obama with Medicare and no one has fixed that. Yet Anyway that's my thoughts once I recover from my chronic lyme I am leaning towards final expense life Insurance and no more call centers for me. Finally charies beutiful snow weather and I hope you feel better soon. Your snow looks like mine and how about putting some solar panels up Charles on those beutiful sheds and an inverter and battery rack you can be like the guy In Georgia who lives off grid and he is not Curtis either his channel is called diy or die. Take care. And keep coming
@BLUAIRHVAC15 күн бұрын
Their will be a channel update and change in the coming months to reflect my next road of travel. No solar panels in my future.
