North Carolina - VanLife On The Road 05/2021

In This video we depart our free camp at Santee Coastal Reserve in McClellanville, South Carolina. We cross into North Carolina and spent a night in a parking lot in Lumberton, North Carolina. From there we arrive at Neuseway Nature Park in Kinston, North Carolina. We stayed a couple nights at the campground there. Kinston is a nice little town. The nature center was nice to check out and we also watched a film at the planetarium. I cook up some burgers on the fold up grill and we enjoyed a nice camp fire.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Love how you’ve expanded your horizons and continue to travel. During the pandemic a lot of people settled in to a spot (some might say a rut) but you’ve found a great vehicle, built a great house for yourself and continue to explore with Kelly. Can’t wait to see the Northeast- been to New Hampshire and Vermont in July and loved it, never got up to Maine so I’m looking forward to where you go.

It probably was...I work at a local dog rescue and adoption agency in wake forest NC. We do these on a monthly basis. 👍🏼

If it was a rescue group, why didn't they have a logo or lettering on the side of the truck that gave their name? They must have many people who wonder what is up (like AVM) and they should be proud to give their organization's name. They didn't - so we wonder if they are transporting dogs for puppy mills.

I heard of a non-profit that transports Chihuahua rescues from Texas to the northeast, where they're adopted quickly. I think taking Chihuahuas on a road trip would be a blast. :)

Of all the campers and motor homes I’ve looked at over the last 4-5 years, a box truck is my personal favorite. I’m really not physically able to do much conversion but it’s still my favorite. You’ve really done a fantastic job with your truck. I’m thinking about something much simpler, possibly a class b late model motor home.

Carolinas in the spring, lots of happy singing birds, flowers blooming, this is a dry not wet rainy week and it is still not buggy. Great places from Carolinas to MD this time of year. The dogs are show dogs maybe for a yearly event in MD at a civic center.

If you head inland, Ashville NC might be a city that you would enjoy exploring. Southwest of Asheville in the mountains is the delightful town of Brevard. The surrounding Pisguh national forest has loads of adventure, lots of bicycling. Also the origin, museum of forestry in the USA. As always, you show us the slow and mindful way to adventure van the country. Thanks!

Georgetown has that pulp plant. It stinks. We are headed your way. In Colorado now. Moving 100 miles/day. Going to metal detect the East Coast beaches this summer. Cleaned up in San Diego and Oceanside this last winter. Great video Brian!

You should check out southern WV.. The New River Gorge ..lots of free camping along the river at places like Brooklyn Camp & Stone Cliff so much cool history in Thurmond on your way to Stone Cliff camp...as well as camping near Summersville Lake. There are great free campsites at the Summerville Dam army Corp engineers free campground.on the Gauley river (yes my name lol) used to work as a whitewater raft guide there
