People never cease to amaze me with their rudeness online. I really enjoyed the video. It's nice to see some short comings posted in videos because we can all learn from them. Looks to me like you had an amazing time with your dogs and they found plenty of birds for you and held good enough for you to put some down. Thanks for sharing!

Great video! Nothing beats working your dogs. And exploring beautiful country. I like your camp setup up, looks like a good time.

Thank you, I do enjoy the camping part and cooking on the wood stove, and yes seeing and exploring places you’ve never been to before is the best I agree!

Enjoyed the video! I had GoPro problems in SoDak last year. One day I had it open and replacing the battery when the dogs put a rooster up right in front of me. Everything hit the ground, including the Rooster! We are headed back in 2 weeks. Keep the videos coming!

Thanks and good luck in SD! Had a similar incident on a covey of sharpies while pheasant hunting this last week, only it was my phone that ended up in the grass and the birds flushed unscathed 😂

Love the wide open prairies. I've hunted ruffed grouse and pheasants last 15 years in MN and finally tried sharpies this year. Went to central ND and results were mixed. I needed to learn about these birds and my pup just turned 1 on Sept 25th so we both had our share of wrong guesses. I just wished I could walk all that land! Oh - and the gun jams - that was a lot. Glad to see you kept your cool, at least on camera anyway :) Been there.

Yeah off camera not so much 😂 Its working well now though! Sharpies are a fun, challenging bird for sure, I love the prairie too!

As the owner of several Benellis, I'm not sure how the lack of a little oil would cause your problem, unless the spring in the stock is completely rusted up. It doesn't take much oil for lubrication, so if you really need it you could drip as little off your truck's dipstick. Keep in mind that inertia guns, like Benellis, need to be held firmly against your shoulder. If you are absorbing all of the recoil with your arms there might not be enough to cycle the action.

Hi Kurt, when I called Benelli the guy told me the guys in the shop said Benellis love oil. So I took it apart again and oiled it a little bit heavier and have had zero issues since. In Their 3 part videos on how to take it apart, clean and oil it properly, it seemed they were light with the oil application but maybe that was just my perception. But I don’t have issues at this time thankfully and I did learn from it for sure. It’s my first Benelli and I love it. Never thought of using oil from the dipstick, that’s a good idea if I ever get in a pinch again! But the likelihood of me leaving my cleaning tools, oil and spare gun home again is pretty nill!

Their not perfect for everyone but they are to me, I love to hunt upland birds for many reasons and the companionship I get from these 2 is better then most people can provide that’s for sure. Now that I have the new pup Ace I am going to join NAVDHA to learn more about the training end of things. Which will benefit these 2 as well I hope. We’re all different in what we expect out of our dogs for sure, and that’s ok in my opinion. I’m not looking for absolute perfection out of them. We all hunt a little differently from each other, and in my opinion that’s ok.

You pointed out that your dog was out of control and "self hunting" but then you said that she "redeemed herself". But on the bird she "redeemed herself" on she ripped it and you shot it... my point is how will you dog learn self control and to handle he records when her handler doesn't show self control by not rewarding the behavior?

Weldon I respect your stance, their works in progress. Appreciate your comments, I’m sure I’ll gain some insights with my NAVDHA endeavors with Ace.

What part of the state were you hunting in? Not asking for specifics, just a general question... Good videos.

Thanks! Western side of state, last couple of years the sharpie numbers have been pretty good.

Least make an attempt to pick up your empties…SMH
@timwagenmanuplandadventure82703 жыл бұрын
My truck bed has empties in it all the time, I pick up other peoples empties too. I’m not perfect and have lost a few making sure I get the downed bird first but I do. Ruffed grouse hunting this past weekend I had a vest full from walking certain trails.

Been tough since Covid, always been in good shape but it’s taken awhile to get back to normal with my breathing since having it, wouldn’t wish it on no one.
