Erik! Thank you for your awesome video! Did you happen to run into a whole bunch of redwood trees down in between North Dome and Upper Yosemite Fall? I encountered them in 2019. The trail was covered by a whole bunch of them . I climbed over some. Others I had to belly-crawl under. I'm just wondering if they cleared a trail around them since??? Peace!

Hi Kevin! The only kind of redwood that lives in the Sierra is the Giant Sequoia, and they live only in very distinct groves, each of which have been mapped/named. To my knowledge there is no Sequoia grove in that area - you likely were clambering over some Incense Cedars! They have beautiful red bark, too. And when I hiked this trail last (in 2021), there were a few downed trees but not a crazy amount.

@@ericmeyer315 Thank you, Erik! I had no idea that red incence cedars could get so big. If I paid attention, i guess I would have known from the cones that were scattered about that they weren't redwoods. I was more focused on making sure I didn't lose the trail. I learned something from your reply! Thanks again!

I’m not sure if this has been addressed in your videos since but investing in a cheap dead cat windscreen will boost your production value 10 fold. Otherwise, beautiful footage!

North Dome is one of my absolute favorite places for a sunset and stargazing! Absolutely worth an easy one-night trip.

Sure thing! And thank you. I drove up from the Bay Area on day 1 and hiked to the dome from Porcupine Creek. There is an excellent camping spot on the saddle of North Dome, under a tree and between a few logs (to the left of the trail that heads up to the top of the dome). I camped there both nights. Keep in mind that it's illegal to camp on North Dome itself. 2nd day I hiked to Yosemite Falls and back to North Dome. Does that help?
