I am very sad that Melbourne keeps on building roads and highways, but they cannot build the airport rail line. Sydney is building a new airport that will have a metro line.

@@JimmiAlli the buses make the proposition a fairly marginal business and the Sydney run was a loss maker the last I heard. The ones who constantly talk about it rarely use it anyway. They just grab a pre-booked taxi from home.

Correction on a lot of subjects but one is Melbourne is not second largest city in Australia but the largest city in Australia by more than 150,000 people.

Greater Sydney is more populous than Greater Melbourne - 5.4m vs 5.1m. Metropolitan Melbourne is more populous than Metropolitan Sydney because Chairman Dan declared Melton a part of the metro area even though Melton does not have most of the metropolitan conveniences which the surrounds of Sydney does have, such as sewerage and double-deck electric trains every ten minutes in the peaks. It won't be long before they tack Geelong onto Melbourne and it doesn't have frequent rail services either.

Yep and Sydney Metro is also going to be bigger than Melbourne's unwanted SRL and is being built at around 1/4 of the price.

@@e1han03 The SRL is not the biggest. SRL = 90km of track and 18 stations. Sydney Metro = 113km of track and 46 stations. There are already 45 trains operating on what has already been built, with more to come as two new lines are being built right now and the first is being extended from Sydenham to Bankstown. Sydney Metro is a new network. The SRL, which is yet to even start being built, will just be one line in the middle of nowhere, if it is ever finished.
