As a teen POC skater and film maker, Mikey Alfred encompasses everything that inspires me and drives me to become a director. This film shows how people of color don’t have to fit one narrative. It also shows the genuine aspects of skate culture and how despite different backgrounds- skating brings people together. Especially growing up skating in LA, you wouldn’t be fully accepted for skating and listening to Odd Future and Hopsin, you’d be swept under the rug. This gives me hope that I can do what I love, and also become a film director and make my own movies.
