Ashok Kumar Yours is the only intelligent defence argument I have seen so far. No one has a right to inpose any language on any state. See how West Bengal is suffering because Mamta Banerjee is imposing Urdu there. Two students were shot dead. They were called Saffron terrorists because they declared they wanted to learn Bangla instead of Urdu. Imposition of a language is equal to forcefully imposing a religious ideology, and must be strongly condemned. As long as Tamilians acknowledge that they are also Indians, I dont see any reason why they should be forced to learn Hindi or even English. But you cant force the Central govt to switch to English either. Incidently, is that why Tamilians are against BJP? Do you want India to become Islamised or Christianised? Because that is what will happen if Congress comes to power.

I’m not from India, just a few observation. They say Tamils need to travel out and be open to other cultures, if not all parts of India, Tamils, Punjabi’s and Gujarati are the most travelled outside off India and make the largest Indian diaspora across the world. This is historically true right across south east Asia, Canada and the uk. Secondly hindhi being a beautiful language, cannot come close to the literary treasure trove of the Tamil language, it is a classical language with an original culture and expression, so maybe it should be the other way around... those that come to tamilnadu should make the effort of learning Tamil rather then choosing to only converse in Hindi. Being part Tamil myself, in my experience Tamils are most accommodating to others in the state of Tamils Nadu, and quiet easily communicate in English if the language is a barrier. Point in case would be the fact that Tamil Nadu has the most educated cricketing fan base that appreciates the game and good contest as opposed to blind fanatic support for local or Indian teams. I oppose to hindhi being made the National language, it should be English. And each state should celebrate and uphold its diversity, culture and language, which make up the beautiful tapestry that is India. My two cents. Great video guys

Wow that's great.... Several people in this video staying here in Tamilnadu for 5 years but still don't know to speak in Tamil, not even a single line. Is this the way how you learn other cultures ?. Dear North Indian friends, first of all know one thing...that our Tamil language is the oldest language in the world, so start learning it. Yes, we are conservative because we don't want other cultures to destroy our own that's why you feel like staying in India when you are in Chennai. Wanted to have my reply as a separate comment. After going through the comments for this video I think there are some things that has to be said outright. 1. There are lots of tamil people who speak other south indian languages. There are even some people who speak other north Indian languages. The only issue they have is with Hindi. 2. Just because a gujarathi (from the comments) learns Hindi doesn't mean that others have too. 3. Growth of Hindi is not organic it has been pushed forward by the government (there are many Maharashtra people whom I know who say that they feel like they are in a foreign country when they are in their own state, because of Hindi hijacking Marathi) 3. As Tamil people has more affinity to their language they won't let any other language to be forced onto them. 4. For people who say majority of ppl speak Hindi, take a look at the data from the 1960 about how many people spoke Hindi at that time. But the central has been pushing Hindi from that time period. 5. If you are telling me majority of people speak Hindi then I would argue majority of people also know English. Bottomline is English is a business language and does not pose a threat to other Indian languages as Hindi does. If India is founded on Diversity then why do you push to have a single language.

The guy at 6:38 said Hindi is the mother tongue and everyone should accept it...How come Hindi would be the mother tongue for south people? you could say hindi is the 'rajyabhasha' , which makes it the official language of the nation..but it doesnt mean it should be the mother tongue of millions of non-Hindi speaking people in the country, all languages should be preserved and protected from cultural invasions...Tamil.. kannada.telugu..malayalam are deeply rooted among its people for centuries, just like Hindi did on northerners... Tamil literature is one of the oldest in the world and they have many of the amazing classical works. why people would like to impose their language on others ? I am from Kerala, i lived in TN for 2 years and now I live in Delhi..i learned that, most people I have seen are mixing English with their regional languages in their conversations which is not a great thing to complement as most people think.. the sad thing is that people don't understand the value of their culture and language and instead they want to imitate western style or want to alter the existing ones

As a Tamiliian first I thought Urdu and Hindi is separate language. There is no link between these two languages. When I learn Hindi (Spoken) I can clearly understand Urudu. But I couldn't understand the TV news of Hindi, I was surprise. Then thereafter I realized most of the north Indians speaking urudu language not Hindi.

Southies have preserved their culture far better than north Indians have and Hindi imposition should not be forced on them. It's their choice and south states are a lot better in terms of safety for women, employment, economy, trade, industries etc so no point telling them what to do. English can be a better bridge for communication and as a north Indian myself , I feel very optimistic and proud of our south Indian people as to how they have been engaged in their Indian roots even today and are down to earth and very humble in nature . Let's respect the beauty and diversity that India has blessed us with. 🇮🇳🙏
