Visiting NZ in Sep. Would you recommend Wilderness compared to Britz/Appollo?

Hi, my recommendation may be obsolete now as that was a few years back. Back then I chose Wilderness because their internal fitting is more luxurious and looks more comfortable. There are also more layout selection then. And we get quite a good discounted rate from them as we rented 3 of them. But I am not sure if the other companies had upgraded their fleet now or not. I think a few points you might wanna take note is what is included in the package, like outdoor table and chairs, outdoor BBQ set etc. Also in my opinion, try to get those layout with shower and WC separated so that at any one time other occupants can still use the WC if someone is showering. A lot of time WC and shower are together. Have fun and Cheers!!

Hi, May I know the motorhome company you used in north island ?

We went with wilderness.co.nz We had pleasant experiences with them then. And a little suggestion, just pay slightly more to opt of $0 excess insurance coverage for the vehicle rental. I always do that for all our car rental road trip. So far no accident before, but just in case anything happen.....could save you thousand of $$. And especially we're tourists, very hard to follow up with any dispute when we're back home. Have a great trip, Cheers!!

@@doriskong5285 yah Wilderness is more costly, we chose them because their motorhomes are more luxurious and they have more layout options back then. But we had a group discount as we rented 3 big one from them. We also book them in advance to get better rates. We would love to do the whole south and north island in motorhome if it was only the 4 of us. But we travelled with extended family, including grandma other family with young toddler who might not be comfortable doing the whole trip in motorhome. Also with such a big group, renting big airBnb(which we did) may make more sense in terms of cost efficiency and spending family time under 1 roof. We chose doing motorhome in North island just because we spent shorter time there just in case other members of our group are not use to it.
