I spent my childhood in Bengal. I remember the Jhalmuri guy on the train. He would carry a whole contraption on his neck with straps. He had all the various condiments in small tin containers attached to a big steel container full of Muri(puffed rice) He had a bottle of mustard oil with a hole on the cap. He mixed all the garnishes and added mustard oil . The next step was to put the whole concoction in a newspaper pouch. Then with flourish he would place a piece of coconut on top. Voila tasty mouthwatering jhalmuri is ready.
