When I hear the AMAZING voice of that girl, I realize that how many golden talents are there in N. Korea with a lot of limits, hard times and toughness of life! It's just impressing me that why shouldn't an innocent talented girl like her see the rest of the world and become one of the best soprano singers! Where ever those talents are, I wish the best for them, and to see one day that the world has discovered these talents. Thanks for this beautiful video Sam Chui

Cal Garian lolollllll, "innovative", eh. lokks like not even a single digital instrument screeen in the cockpit. i wonder wheather htere is autopilot. but it is also kind of good to remind us of how far humanity has improved in aviation. we had prgressed from that cockpit to a cockpit where the pilots just sit back and the autopilot takes over... and also havin colourful displays in the cokpit

The engine has a fixed set of "blades" that are placed infront of the fan, these are presumably for stabilising the airflow which is often turbulent after it has passed along the length of the fuselage. It also can help reduce damage from bird strikes and such.

The IL-62 has an excellent safety record, better than Boeing's 707. The 62M was build into the 1990's making the last aircraft off the line relatively young, as aircraft go. Delta still flies some 35 year old DC-9 50's on a couple of short haul routes. The 62M's engines are two spool low bypass turbofans. What you see at the front is not the stage 1 compressor but inlet guide vanes which are fixed. If you ever see them spinning you are having a very bad day :)

No all the turbines on an Il-62M automatically lock off when the engine is stalled. The only way to turn them when stopped is by setting it to engineering/simulation or cleaning mode which requires exterior access. I don't see anyone hanging off the wing.
@BritanniaPacific9 жыл бұрын
You really don't see the il-62m anymore, I know Russia's national airline Aeroflot retired them a number of years ago. Despite the fact it's an old soviet made airplane, operated by North Korea, you're experiencing aviation history, and this airplane is a reminder of those old days.

@MakMoustachu6 жыл бұрын
Tough luck! You got absolutely the worst seats. It’s a lot more comfortable near the midsection - a lot less noise. The plane used to be renowned back in the Soviet times for its stable rides and smooth landings. It’s a flying museum piece indeed - most of IL-62s were retired in the late 90s. Thanks for the video - what memories revived! My first ever flight was on one of these, back in 1977…

Long, long ago, I flew on an Aeroflot IL-62. Four memories stick with me: 1) It accelerated very smartly & required a fairly short takeoff run. 2) The food & service were appalling. 3) Half my seat belt pulled loose in my hand, like a dead snake. 4) The cabin pressure oscillated in a 3-minute cycle - my eardrums kept popping. Perhaps the North Koreans maintain their aircraft better than did the Soviets - but I think I'll pass, thanks just the same...

Wait WAIT!!! How come engine number 2 is off? Im guessing they're running engine 1 and 4 and have 2 and 3 off since that plane can fly in only 2 engines. So they probably try to conserve fuel. But the purpose of 2 and 3 is because of redundancy so if 1 and 4 fail there's a backup. Plus I think they didn't think that if you use 4 engines with 1/4 power you probably use less fuel then if you use only 2 and full power. But hey what do I know. Some work say it's frame rate of the camera but if that was the case then when the engine change speeds the fans would start flooring forward and backwards in the frames of the camera. But that engine is definitely off.

@flame36019 жыл бұрын
No, just because they are a North Korean airline if you want to transport passengers you have to follow FAA regulation which permits smoking anywhere on any aircraft during any part of the flight before and after
@boldontarian8 жыл бұрын
On final, the plane was only running the outer engine pair? Is this to save fuel, or for noise reduction?
@Elrond_Hubbard18 жыл бұрын
