The girls involved were basically indoctrinated for about 6months leading up to this, they were under the impression it was all for tv/KZbin, and were given money for performing pranks like running up and holding a guys hand whilst walking with his partner etc. All their money they pretty much sent back to their families. All under the instruction of the filming team (that were actually North Korean agents) so they’d been doing this stuff for a while leading up to this, basically being trained without them knowing. They were told the oils were really bad for clothing so to be very careful with it, hence why they went to the bathroom afterwards to clean it off. One of the girls a few days after the event was even told by the tv crew (n.Korean agents) to return to the airport for another prank, she was seen on cctv returning and waiting in the airport for hrs, but they never showed up. She had no idea of what had happened during the last ‘prank’

23:05 First thing that comes to my mind: He obviously knew he was a potential target, and also knew NK's cloak and daggers can reach far beyond its borders. So he probably carried around all that money to literally bribe anyone that tried to assassinate him, obviously not expecting something as elaborate as 'two-part neurotoxin applied directly to the face from behind by would-be pranksters'. To be fair, he could probably get away with bribing them $5k, but he's also gotta account for multiple potential assassins on a single trip. And at that point, he's carrying around enough that it looks suspicious to legitimate authorities, so he's gotta carry even more to motivate them to look the other way.
@Kxvito Жыл бұрын

Something I was thinking about is that he was carrying around the money to bribe people, but as to the "It would be suspicious and he'd be taken away for questioning with that money," it occurs to me that he probably wanted to be taken away for questioning, where he would say "I'm Kim Jong Nam," and probably receive extra assistance and security as he escaped. If North Korea's method of assassinating him was to pay two ladies $1000, set them up in the cheapest hotel, and put old chemicals on napkins, I kinda doubt they had the influence to do much if he was detained by a more powerful government that dislikes North Korea and would support him leaving the country.

Most precursors of V-series nerve agents are as heavily restricted as the nerve agents themselves, so ease of smuggling would not have been a concern. The primary reason for using a binary agent was, as you mentioned, that the woman applying it would have been extremely unwell before reaching Kim, to the point that the attack may have failed, if unitary VX were used. Also just to clarify, these are not biological weapons and are instead chemical weapons. They are quite distinct in many regards such as mode of action and exposure, control, storage, etc.

I wholeheartedly believe they were clueless about the plot. The amount of money they got for a "seemingly harmless prank" is life changing on some countries with extreme poverty. That alone will make people kill for survival, imagine getting it for a petty prank. It's just a horrible situation. Not only releasing a WMD, but doing it in a crowded area with zero concern for people's lives, and also using less fortunate people for it as scapegoats. I don't know how anyone can live as a human after ordering something like this...but Kim Jong Un surprises me every day.

I'd seen this one back on the 20th of July. It was very well done and goes into great detail. One thing Muta had said that was incorrect was that napkins or cloth were used to apply the VX agent to his face; it was applied with their bare hands. 2nd girl to apply the VX compound agent was VERY lucky to still be living afterword. Hadn't she immediately washed her hands with soap and water, she would've met the same fate as Kim Jong-nam and been dead as a door-nail. They were also lead up to that event at the airport; it was not just a one time KZbin prank, there were multiple over a period of time, of course sans VX.

Muta mentions Tabun in passing in the vid, this is a story I read in a book about the effects of tabun: Because of the plant's deep secrecy and the difficult nature of the production process, it took from January 1940 until June 1942 for the plant to become fully operational. Many of Tabun's chemical precursors were so corrosive that reaction chambers not lined with quartz or silver soon became useless. Tabun itself was so hazardous that the final processes had to be performed while enclosed in double glass-lined chambers with a stream of pressurized air circulating between the walls. Three thousand German nationals were employed at Hochwerk, all equipped with respirators and clothing constructed of a poly-layered rubber/cloth/rubber sandwich that was destroyed after the tenth wearing. Despite all precautions, there were over 300 accidents before production even began and at least ten workers died during the two and a half years of operation. Some incidents cited in A Higher Form of Killing: The Secret History of Chemical and Biological Warfare are as follows: Four pipe fitters had liquid Tabun drain onto them and died before their rubber suits could be removed. A worker had two liters of Tabun pour down the neck of his rubber suit. He died within two minutes. Seven workers were hit in the face with a stream of Tabun of such force that the liquid was forced behind their respirators. Only two survived despite resuscitation measures.

Damn, that's pretty fucking sinister. I've been following the topic of North Korea quite a lot, but missed a lot of these details, 4example the entire Malaysian side of it. We got a guy here in Poland that frequently traveled to North Korea & even organized tourist trips there. I've just sent him this vid, he may have something interesting to add to it.

It’s crazy how ‘I saw once a person at kuala lumpar airport stepped outside the waiting area after passing security check to drop his food in the bin and after them saying no, they tackled him and put him in cuffs and escorted out the airport thinking he was trying to attack someone’

Oh hey, wasn't expecting it to be about this. First heard about it through Rotten Mango, and they went into pretty good detail. Like how apparently the US sank a ship with actual tons of their VX supply in the Pacific to just, get rid of it. I'd like to also point out, Nam's fake passport he used had a name that translates to "Fat Panda" and what's wilder is, he was expecting it. He had the antidote in his bag Why didn't he use it? He wasn't sure, and it's one of those antidotes that can kill you if the poison isn't there

Mutahar is surely on the hit list of North Korea. Bro sacrificing for all of us.

I was at the airport at the time after they closed down the airport center to cleaned up the possible VX agent around the area and saw bunch of them officials wearing hazmat suits/PPE to make sure the area is safe from dangerous WMD chemicals.

NK is itching to throw nukes more than Russia I think they just don't want to poke the bear.
@elio7610 Жыл бұрын
Well, NK has ties to China, nobody wants to aggravate China. Also, NK has been developing intercontinental missiles to make any would be invaders cautious. China's support of NK has something to do with USA's influence on South Korea, and China has strategic reasons to not directly takeover NK.
