You know it’s a bad military experience when a former officer says her most proud moment was sneaking people out just to see their own families. She’s such a kind officer. I salute her, even though I’m not in the military.

That DOES happen when your parent gets Alzheimer's disease when they deteriorate to the stage where they don't recognize their own family members, or even friends. My mother had it, and it was heartbreaking. She would either become fearful of us, or belligerent towards us. My mother was a sweet, loving person who was big on hugs and kisses, she loved EVERYONE. But Alzheimer's took away her memory and the person she used to be. Personality change is a big part of the latter stages of Alzheimer's. It's heartbreaking for the family to watch the person you loved turn into someone completely different. It's an insidious disease and I wouldn't wish it on ANYONE. This video touched my heart seeing her reaction to American soldiers on leave, surprising their families. My heart goes out to the North Korean people, especially after I saw 2 documentaries a few months ago, on life in North Korea. I had NO idea it was so dystopian! I cried watching those documentaries. Thank you for this channel.

@@patticrichton1135a while back one of my friends grandfather had Alzheimer’s and it started getting kind of bad. He was about 16 at the time. When my friend and his dad when to visit his grandfather, he looked at my friend and said to his Dad “who is that John” and he said thats your grandson, and he said “When did you get a son John?” It was genuinely extremely sad 😢

From what I understood, she wasn't an orphan since young age, but she lost her parents during her military duty, and that's why she takes them home. Because she regrets the fact that she followed the rules and then lost them before she could meet them one last time. So she takes that burden off helping others don't do the same. She's amazing anyway, I'm just saying that it wasn't a case of not understanding the bond between parents and children, because she does
