It’s been nearly three years since residents of a North Miami Beach condo building were forced out of their homes because it was deemed unsafe.

HOA mafia at its finest. Thank you Florida government for not giving a F

This is why it is important to be involved, my HOA hardly gets 5 owners to the meetings we sent tocies via emails and regular mail, we keep the same people in the board why? because no one wants to be a candidate to be a board member no owner wants to do the voluntary work… I am the only woman in my HOA everyone else is older men, I figured I live in this condo for few more years until I save enough to get me a house but until then I want to know what’s going on and where my money is going and learn that way I can continue a decent job if the current members can’t do it anymore ( they are passing away 😢) … they have tried to leave the board and you know what happens no one wants to participate there is not choice but to keep the same people, tomorrow will be our annual board selection I will be surprise if I see more than 5 owners we have 200 units 🥴no one cares … if you are in a HOA get involved, if you think they are misusing the money file a complaint with the state owners have the right to see finances … I had not choice but to buy a condo but I’m saving every dime to get out because I am afraid this can happen to me… so far we are good but I’m afraid if the board changes things can get bad

Shouldn’t the City be responsible for such negligence to the people of alerting this issue from years ago since the City should have inspected this issue in the past???

Which would be great, the residents can get some money for their houses and move on, but it hasn't happened yet

I get that he's curbed your supply of "free stuff". But is he involved in this in any way? Maybe all these "free stuff" Miami politicians your parents voted for aren't doing such a great job. When you can put down the game for a few moments, ask Mom and Dad about it.

@@utubewillyman This high rise was built in the early 1970s none of the local politicians have any control of the building structure or foundation. Regulations did not exist back then. State lawmakers and local politicians, however, can adapt policies for building recertification every 10 years and not every 40 years as it is now. Miami already has the toughest building codes in the country because of hurricanes. The state has no such standard. In north Florida, homes and businesses are still made out of plywood. So the governor is actually responsible by not enforcing better building codes.

I don't think I will ever live in a condo. It seems way too risky. They're depreciating assets where the depreciation is totally out of your power to control.

The HOA board should be personally responsible for covering the cost of these residents to live somewhere else
@11sfr7 ай бұрын
The HOA board is paying for themselves to live somewhere else, since they're residents, too

That’s crazy I wouldn’t want to go back after 6 years I be settled in a new safe place that’s crazy it’s like they don’t care if they have a place or not but if they didn’t pay rent they would care
@11sfr7 ай бұрын
Rent? Its a condo building, if it was apartments, you'd have grounds to break the lease and move on, but these residents own their property

Buildings in New York are also built a lot better. This is Miami we are talking about... high rises are made out of cheap materials.
