North Sea Waves Smashing Into Oil Rigs

Footage of some of the most terrifying weather on the planet. Oil and gas installations and their support vessels working in the North Sea have to contend with monster waves, up to 20m high, on a regular basis.

The wave on the "Scottish" crews boat was over 100ft and the ship was the Caledonian Vigilance. Th crew are from all over the UK. This was a Jigsaw vessel carrying ARRCs of which I was a Coxswain.

Thanks for the extra info - I've never been sure which vessel this was, so specifically never mentioned it. Great footage though isn't it!

@@Master-Disaster It's great footage. As you know, seas like that are commonplace in a bit of a blow, it goes to show how many people simply don't understand what really big seas are and why mariner were reluctant to report them. I would - from a safe distance, liked to have seen the Latoya Bay wave which was in excess of half a kilometer high and ran two kilometers up the surrounding valley walls. I've seen a few 25m+ seas!
