Back in the early 2000's it was basically only bodyboarders out at Gums. On rare occasion a surfer would paddle over to Gums and take one on the head. This was back when John John and Nate were little kids with big blond afros playing out in front of Rocky Rights. Now, 20 years later, its so awesome to see surfers finally being comfortable pulling into closeout shorebreak
