But she is the grown-up and she controls everything so I don’t understand why she can’t get them to do what they’re supposed to do if she wanted to. North is 10 not 17. If this was North’s school play then it would be okay as well. It is a professional production and they should have given her some training or lessons before. The production company decided to go with her for whatever reason, so I’m sure they calculated their risk and benefit from the name versus actual theatre kids. You are right that the parents are to blame and children should just have fun. Which she should, would just be better if her parents supported her actual talents. She does art, and her rapping isn’t too bad. I don’t think any child is too young for the “know your limits” speech though. It should just be worded and related to them how they can understand. The other difference with Blue Ivy vs. North West is that Blue didn't take a position that would have otherwise gone to a paid dancer or a child performer with more talent. She was an add-on because her mother was happy to have her daughter involved in her show. North took a spot that other kids, who are talented and work hard to earn roles in professional productions. North's parents and the show producers gave an undeserving child an opportunity that should have gone to someone deserving.

Here’s the thing: children of famous people (I don’t like the cringey term “nepobaby”) need to: 1. Have talent to follow in their parents’ footsteps. 2. Genuinely want to follow the same career path as their parents, not because they can take advantage of the system by using their privileges just because they can. 3. Wait their turn and work hard like everyone else. 4. Be grateful for their advantages and not complain about them. 5. Not discredit their parents about their success. A lot of people are confusing being honest with being mean. A young boy with the talent deserved that spot. Kardashians made show all about themselves. This is a slap in the face to the cast, crew, musicians, people who paid to see it, the real costume designer, and to North herself. Her parents set her up for this. This business is full of criticism and performers especially need to be ready to take that critique. Everybody in the industry at some point is met with brutal honesty, and cold hearted opinions but that’s how the industry works. Good performers are necessity, otherwise we get lousy performance like this. She killed the quality of the show, but that’s just cause she isn’t at this level yet. Her parents need to put her in a performing arts school or community theater or something and start out learning about the basics of musicals before throwing her into the spotlight in such a highly produced and professional show like this. This was irresponsible on Kim and Kanye’s part. It doesn’t surprise me though, this family is all about exploiting each other for content. Specially considering Kim’s mom likely released “the tape.” I don’t think they care about humiliating her.

Big difference… blue ivy was in one part of her mom’s performance and knew the steps and choreography, but early on looked like a kid dancing and learning her body’s movements. As she’s growing up and learning how to move it’s looking like a more skilled dancer. Blue ivy was never lost on stage and never looked under rehearsed. North has no idea where her marks are or how to move on stage or in front of an audience.

Her being a child is no excuse for that performance. There are professionally trained theater kids that could perform circles around that performance. If my niece, who was accepted into the Alvin Aley dance school (the one where Debbie Allen teaches), performed the way North did she would have been rejected with a quickness. I suggest getting North vocal, acting, and dance lessons asap.

This was supposed to be a Broadway production. The performers were, in large part, part of the Broadway cast. And the part was supposed to be played by a Broadway caliber child performer. The production company that produces the Kardashians show is/was the same one who produced this stage show. Kim refused to allow the shows costume designer to costume North and insisted that she choose the designer and have the costume designed herself. It looks like they went to Walmart, bought a zip hoodie, sweatpants, and some big fuzzy slippers and rigged a last minute Halloween costume.
