I F'd up the huge wreck clip and it shows WAY to soon in the race sequence so ignore that lol, also For some reason the Nelson team radios create a much quieter playback for the radio chatter on the recorder, so keep that in mind whenever I drive their cars. I’ll work on it moving forward!

I don't know if you and or your father has any input on setup. But if you do, ask them if they can check the rear end. You are a smart driver, very talented. Your dad was the same way. Have you and your dad watch the practice video. Slow it down. Watch the left rear very closely. You will see what I saw.

I think Robert & yourself needs to get that car in your shop to start measuring if the chassis is square or if there’s a bind somewhere in the suspension. I’m guessing it’s been diamond.

Gaining every week. I keep thinking what you said loose in loose around loose out. Well Dad told me you have to get in 1st to get around 1st to get out 1st but. When you can't get in on A flat. Track? , you want to have a decent amount of left front toe out right front. Camber and and a stiffer left front if the right is driving faster. Middle is balance and weight known as wedge. Coming out is rear Springs and stagger. If the car strings square and the frame heights and Springs are correct all of that should work. The other thing with a flat track with old bumpy surface is shocks that do what you want.

@tonymatteson Жыл бұрын
I know how this works. Watch his practice. Keep an eye on the left rear. It walks backwards. That is a rear end that's ot square to the center portion of the chassis. This causes the car to be loose on entry. Not really take a set in the middle and loose off. Ask Landon if he thinks the cat actually takes a full set?
@TheCrewChief374 Жыл бұрын
Sooo is this lateral grip issue something to do with the rearend not being square in the car or is there something bent or wore out on the suspension somewhere?
@jhart7304 Жыл бұрын
lateral grip issue is from running too much wedge. too much weight on two tires instead of four. big bars, lots of crossweight and comfortable driving with the tradeoff being duration. i bet the right rear was burnt to shit.
@tonymatteson Жыл бұрын
You need to square the rear end. The left rear is laying back on entry.
@jhart7304 Жыл бұрын
nah. that is just basic setup. left rear is soft to help car turn on exit. he likely running a high wedge setup, probably a huge sway bar and 62% crossweight.
@tonymatteson Жыл бұрын
Why 62% way to much. You want the left real to lay down on exit. However if you are struggling to get the car off, then the car will never come off the corne.
@jhart7304 Жыл бұрын
@@tonymatteson because you are putting alot of force on two tires to compensate. this causes wear and heat issues at the benefit of 'feeling' stable, particularly with right rear. that is why high wedge setup is unrealistic in any setting over 25 laps.
@tonymatteson Жыл бұрын
@J Hart ok. However, there is 4 tires on the car. You use the right front to get into the corner, the left front to turn the car, the right rear to drive thru the center and the left rear for dive off. All 4 tires have different jobs to do. One tire or wheel can not do 2 things at once. So you never need 62% cross in a race car. If you do that, it is never going to work.

Landon....I am not a crew chief or a qualified mechanic but the issues you describe in this video....there has to be a chassis twisted, warped something. So, I know geometry well and a chassis is all geometry. Something that needs attention is not getting it. Your 75 handles too darned good at bumpy old Hickory for Landon Huffman to be the problem. As me and the miss'us are longtime Huffman fans going back to your dad in trucks and Goodys dash now Landon fans we hope the best for you!
