Hello from sunny East Yorkshire. Ive spent a lot of time on the moors. I dont struggle with tents any more.. Im 6'4" tall. I dont fit in most tents, and Ive never been in a tent that doesnt leak. For the last 8 years Ive carried a 4m x 4m budget blue tarp. Even if I dont over night, its great to get out of the wind while I eat/rest. Weirdly dont get eaten by the bugs, they love my hike buddy tho. Im unjabbed. Ive worked non stop, I social distance and Ive stayed covid free.

The condensation thing is a pain in the arse. i get it even when I'm tarp camping and it's in the lean to position. The wee banshee tent gets it too, but thankfully, it's two layered. I always take a bivvy bag now just in case.

Thanks for the heads up about the ticks. Met a woman with her dog last week (near Callander, SCotland) who said her dog had picke some up. We hike fortnightly with a club and weekly (recce hikes) and last year I picked up a tiny one: only my second ever in 70 years! Couldn't get it out with the removers and was passed on to A&E! They let me keep it so I have hopes of making a little tick info video if I can ever get my act in order. Good to see your camp. Looking forward to watching more. Sadly I can watch more than do it! Lol! Like you I am a bit too easily knackered after covid (pretty sure I had it twice and the first one really knocked the stuffing out of me). I have a little propane burner that packs tiny but while great for boiling water for a coffee it's too good at burning stuff. Alcohol might actually give a gentler heat. PIty about the condensation. At least you know about it. Thanks for sharing.

I love watching these videos and I'm looking at getting out soon myself... I noticed you had trouble with midges. I work cutting vegetation on the railways and I use something from Avon called Skin so Soft and it stops most insects bothering me.. I forgot to use it today and I noticed the difference... It's actually a moisturiser and not an insect repellent but it does seem to repel them even though it actually smells quite nice

Aww, kids are soo thoughtful, sharing all their germs like that. My kids were the entry-point into our household too, twice, such little darlings 😂 I looked at this tent a few times and figured there'd be issues with condensation, thanks for testing it for us. Pretty sure single-skin tents just aren't suited to the UK climate. It always seems it's either raining, or humid, and without a decent breeze blowing through you're ending up wet in the morning. Just had a night in a forest hammock camping, I loved that, didn't enjoy feeding the local mosquitos from my legs though. I guess once you're part of the environment it's all fair, I paid them in blood for my rent 🤣

Oh no! The VIK tents are renown for being condensation machines. I was actually looking at the VIK 2, then I saw a review or 2, one by Luke at Outdoorgearreview and he was less than complimentary about the way it deals with airflow. I ended up going for the Alpkit Soloist and I think I made the right choice. :)

Single skin tents are tempting because of the weight saving. But, that's where the advantages end & the problems begin. Clearly, they're for summer use only, & even then, you get huge condensation issues. I've honestly never come across a decent single skin tent, unless they're BIG & very well ventilated.

It is made in ordinary world, in the country of america. I use the product myself on my hell hounds to extreme satisfaction. enjoyed listening to you, Carrie.
