Thank you for that. The railroads were still struggling in 1980 yet Amtrak was still running 18-car LD trains. Amazing.

Love that first shot with the AEM-7 and GG1. Two eras of the Northeast Corridor coupled together. That same AEM-7 coupled to that 1930s GG1 would work alongside 2010s ACS-64s during her final years of service. A connection spanning nearly 90 years.

If I had a time machine, I'd go back to that year.

If someone said I could pick my year, I'd go back to 1943 in a second! Insane amounts of wartime traffic, and if it wasn't powered by an electric loco it was steam.

Diesels pulling the Broadway Limited on the NEC?
@RailroadMediaArchive18 күн бұрын
It's on the Philadelphia-Harrisburg line. At least throughout the F40 era on Amtrak the Broadway and Pennsylvainian changed engines in Philadelphia and would be diesels under wire to Harrisburg.

Wonder what those SEPTA Silverliners were doing there?

Those were actually Jersey Arrow cars owned by NJDOT, and borrowed for the single round trip, pre-MARC era commuter-ish train called the Chesapeake. Made all local stops that are now served by MARC trains.
