This documentary should be a required watch for students going into social services programs in Portland and really for anyone who has moved to NE in the past 20 years. Crazy to see how much Portland has changed, and saddened that Nikki ended up leaving Portland in the end. Portland needs more voices like Nikki's and NE Portland's legacy residents to keep the history of Portland alive. We need to take responsibility for the trauma that gentrification has caused POC and step up to empower the people in the communities who know what is best for their own neighborhoods. The problems that Portland is facing today are not new, and they are a direct result of the abuses of power that have plagued our state since its beginning.

Get a career, and don't sit on minimum wage forever. You'll be immune to this shit. Hit up a trucking company. You'll become middle class INSTANTLY. Or go to one of the trade unions for an apprenticeship. You don't necessarily need college to live well. It's all a matter of your own will wether you stay poor or not...
