Please note that the reason to opposed the proposed fencing is different in different states, Manipur state cannot dictate the policy of whole North East states. Incase of Nagaland, the villages in the border(arbitrary artificial border) area existed way back in 16th century whereas india got independence in 1947 . Indian delegates and their counterpart Myanmar without any knowledge of the people residing in the area demarcated this artificial boundary. Just imagine how can a border fence be erected inside the house of one family dividing a kitchen from the room of ONE BUILDING/HOUSE. Do you guys ever realised why Britishers keep the border porous? The cross border interaction among the ethnicities was aged old whereas FMR was just a formal regulation imposed recently in 2018. Illegal and informal trade has grown, but the real reasons for that lie in the lack of trade, customs and enforcement infrastructure on the border. IIG problem has been around for over 60 years and has been much worse at different times; the government has in fact achieved considerable progress in bringing many of these IIGs into Suspension of Operations, talks and accords. The decision of the HM is totally based on false premises and misrepresentation of reality. If pursued It will reverse the impressive connectivity and economic gains for the border states and the northeastern region in general and severely damage our Act East policy. It will result in a self-inflicted wound against our national interests. It is hoped better sense prevails.

We have 1657 new villages that has popped up in Manipur alone since 2005 as per the data. Those villages came into existence in Churachandpur, Tengnoupal , Chandel and Saikul districts which are all Kuki poppy cultivators dominant areas. Perhaps,moved in from Myanmar. Many Nagas village are in Myanmar side. During the creation of Nagaland state indian govt fail to consult the landmark boundary of India- Nagaland boundary with Burmese( Myanmar) govt in 1963. Please don't judge by its cover guys! Dig into India history for more details. Do not make such mistake again.Instead of fencing, we need to claim back our land that is given and divided by the British ,because that is our original right. Claim back those land and fence it! Because: some part of land belong to Nagas and our brothers and sisters living in without any facility from either Myanmar Govt. And india Govt controlled by so called Naga national movement. You may fence it but the history will remain forever ,we should not let archaeologists dig out all the details after a thousand year rather we can make it happen at this time. People who are good at history and polity will understand this. During harrapan civilization to Vedic age,they fought for cattles ,and then Mahajanapas time ,they fought for territories so and so on. Now don't fight for fencing , fight for the justice that the British took away from us. I am afraid this may not bring peace but tensions among the neighbouring community. Otherwise,the only solution is giveaway the solution to the Nagas ,they know how to claim back. For those who don't believe, do archaeological survey about the traditions and culture from your end😊 Note Nagas history is not acknowledged during the time of making India history because we were independent since time immemorial as such. So as Bangladesh and Bengal share a lot of thing from culture to language to tradition and food does that mean Bengal should keep its border open. Just 10 years ago there are enclaves of India inside Bangladesh and vise versa. That mean a Bengali person house is in India but his cultivation land is in Bangladesh. There are few localities and even houses that were half in India and were half in Bangladesh. The border was divided in such a manner that it is considered to be the most complex border of the world to understand but both Bangladesh and India sat together found a solution to the problems. India has right to fence its border.

Come and see it by your naked eyes about the conditions of the Nagas and other ethnic tribal people living nearby the borders and within the borders, you'll feel like it was like the early 1900's to late 90's as India cannot do much on its side and myanmar cannot on its side. Some people use to travel 3 days by foot taking advantage of the Free Movement Regime just to buy a bagful of rice(50 kgs) and turns back happily to their homes, some use to come and sell their handicrafts(esp.bamboo basketries) after travelling for more than 2 days through walking. One of the greatest division which was done by both the countries during border demarcation and the best example to let the whole countries know about the division of its own people is that, there is a remote village called Longwa in Nagaland where its Village and Village Chief's house was divided from the centre between India and Myanmar. One will know the real conditions of the people when one sets its foot on their crying soil.
