But we do have Gaelscoileanna which are completely Irish speaking schools. Gaelige is the Native language of all of Ireland. I find it disturbing that Northern Irish people ( who are Irish people stuck in under British control) are not allowed learn their NATIVE language in school. We also have Gaeltachta which are Irish speaking parts of Ireland. There should be a Gaeltacht set up in Northern Ireland. Everyone has the right to speak their native language. All road signs down here are written in Irish first then English. In Any Gaeltachta though its only as Gaeilge

Just as an outsider, I think having more than one language is a very good thing. Irish is a way to understand names of places and history. I'm trilingual (Swedish, Polish and English) and believe this has been a positive thing for me. Most Europeans are bilingual (mother tongue + english and maybe some more larger language) so I would say that it would be very enriching for the Irish people to protect it and treasure it. Once Irish is gone it is gone forever and you lose many hundreds of years of unbroken connection.

@@54markl Scotland might have taken it's name from an Irish tribe but less than a third of Scots actually come from that tribe. You had the Dal Riada and the Picts uniting to form Alba in the 6th century in the face of a Scandinavian threat. Below them you had other brythonic tribes such as the Cumbrians. And then you also have the Angles (Anglo-Saxons) formerly of the Kingdom of Northumbria, half of which became the southeast of modern Scotland. And then you had the Burghs... If only history was as simple as you made it sound!
