Basically a Thumper version of Class 455, with powerful equipment I think salvaged from older units dating from the 1960s. Great sound chugging off into the dark at2:10.

The Castle Class. Rebodied with 150 MK3 style bodies. It's strange to hear a 150 sounding like a hastings unit.

I just about remember these when I first started coming over to NI in the late 90s. They were gone by the time I moved permanently in 2013. Thumptastic. Glad I got to ride on a few, as well as the English SR version, between East Croydon and Uckfield.

Next to the engine in the passenger saloon is that the guards cab

It looks like the guards compartment was between the cab and engine compartment.....

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus To clarify the Guards compartment is next door to the passenger accomodation as it is for Class 205 / 207. N.B. Best chance of picking up traction motor sound is at the back of the passenger accomodation and driver not fully notched up.

Basically, these are like the BR Class 210 DEMU, two were built but the idea was not taken forward as deemed too expensive, we got Pacers and Sprinters instead.... These are similar to the Southern DEMU types as well.....
