This is beautiful! I saw you post it on one of the resin sites. I have been working with resin quite a while but I have never used interference. I wasn't exactly sure what I was supposed to do with it even though I have all four colors. 😂 I think I might try it today. If I have any success and post it I will give you credit for the idea.(I guess I'm allowed to do that.) I'm actually an administrator on one of the sites, but I rarely see people give credit so I will find out for sure. I tried to sign up for your blog but it wouldn't let me do it. The keyboard would not come up to type my information in. And again this is gorgeous I think I see more interference colors in my future. 😊

I have used some similar techniques in my own aurora borealis depictions. I developed a paint from colorshift pigments, and then layered resin on top to show the flip better with the refractive index. However, you've converted me, resin as a medium is a far more organic process. I do have an enormous amount of interference pearls, but the brilliance of the myriad colorshift pigments is pulling me effortlessly in its direction, perhaps your technique and my pigments will be an eyecatching experience. :D

This turned out just stunning. I really love the sparkle ones. I’m not great at technology either but a suggestion that may help with the noise level. I know other you tubers that I watch wear a microphone that plugs into whatever you are using to record. Some use wireless but more cost. That way we can hear you speaking even over the torch and heat gun. You have a very soft voice so I really think it would be a great investment for you. I had to turn my volume up quite high to hear you speak so when you used your tools I turned it down but heard nothing you said. Best of luck I am looking forward to more of you videos and love seeing these products. I do have mica to use up but I sure am glad I have a Canadian company I know I can buy paste from going forward.

Thank you very much! And great tip. I had not heard of the microphone option. Thanks for that tip. I will definitely look into that. Thanks again. 😊

Can you email me with which colours you are interested in? to md@artworksresin.ca Sky base colours: I used Colour Passion Navy Epoxy Paste in this video. (Edited Note: I did a 4th Northern Lights version after this one, in a little bit lighter blue & I preferred the lighter sky... other Colour Passion paste colours that can still work for the blue section are Blue Passion, Indigo, Michele Shimmer, Classic Blue or Cobalt Blue). I used Colour Passion Purple Passion Epoxy Paste in this video. (Edited Note: in the 4th Northern Lights version, I did a bit lighter purple in the sky too and preferred the lighter sky..... other Colour Passion paste colours that work beautifully for the purple section in the sky are Erika Shimmer & Helen Shimmer paste). The Northern Lights were all created from these interference colours: Colour Passion Green Interference Powder Colour Passion Blue Interference Powder Colour Passion Violet Interference Powder Colour Passion Red Interference Powder The Sparkles aren’t necessary but a pretty addition that almost gives a feel of stars: Colour Passion Green Change Sparkle Powder Colour Passion Blue Change Sparkle Powder Colour Passion Violet Change Sparkle Powder Colour Passion Red Change Sparkle Powder Ground colours used in this video: Colour Passion Black Passion Epoxy Paste Colour Passion Onyx Powder (In different versions, I tried other colours of powders, a bronze, and a brown, they worked, but I prefer the Onyx look).

Then bottom is Passion Black paste & Onyx Pearl powder.

Can you do this on canvas? Abs what primer would you use x
@artworksresincanada
@artworksresincanada 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, some people do create with resin on canvas. I prefer not to as I like the results better on hard wood panels. However if you’d like to, you’ll need to support the back of the canvas with something solid to prevent the resin sinking & pooling in to the middle, and pulling away from the sides. Some people use cardboard. Some people will put a layer of resin in the backside, let it cure, then it will create the sturdier more solid front. Many canvases come preprimed, but you may want to use a complimentary base colour (tint the primer or use acrylic paint if already primed) to what your resin creation colours will be.

@artworksresincanada
@artworksresincanada 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Many people do create with resin on canvas. You can prime the canvas with gesso or any primer with sealer. Any previous paint must be fully cured prior to adding resin. Also, If using canvas, you will need to support the underside, so the resin doesn’t pool in the centre. Another option is, some people give the back side of canvas a coat of resin first, then let dry flat, to add firmer support when creating on the front. I personally prefer hard wood panels, but have on occasion used canvas.

Can I use regular paints to do that and regular glitter?
@jmicheledonohue7384
@jmicheledonohue7384 Жыл бұрын
Good quality Acrylic paints & acrylic inks can be used, yes. You may not get same effects as mica powders. Any paint with higher water content will not work well with resin, & may cause curing issues. When adding any colourants, be sure to use smallest amount colourant possible to achieve desired colour, up to a maximum of 10% colour to resin ratio. Too much of any colourant added, can affect the sensitive chemical balance of epoxy resins ability to cure correctly.
@jmicheledonohue7384
@jmicheledonohue7384 Жыл бұрын
Regular glitter acts more like an embellishment, since it does not colour the resin. Mica powder colours the resin, and can be manipulated around the piece. Regular glitter once applied, typically is left in place where applied. because if you try to spread it out, and manipulate it too much, you will have lumps & bumps under your resin.
