Looks like our kind of camping spot!

It's totally our style, too. Plenty of space, and it's completely free, too. I'm glad you liked it.

My dad told me never to use river rocks to circle a fire. He said these rocks are porous and can have water trapped in them. If the water turns to steam these rocks can explode.
@ontheroadaustralia4 ай бұрын
Good advice. It's probably not worth the risk, we really should get a metal fire pit.
@kdegraa4 ай бұрын
@@ontheroadaustralia a metal fire pit is another piece of equipment that needs to be bought and hauled around. Maybe just clearing away the rocks is the way to go. Its been a while since I've been camping by rivers like this. Usually I'd clear the rocks away. I don't know if my father's advice has any truth to it or not but it seems feasible. However if a rock has been sitting on dry land for years in the sun and wind, it probably doesn't have much moisture left in it.

Whats the road like into the camp site cheers Richard
@ontheroadaustralia9 ай бұрын
It's a dirt road. Easy to get in. We only have a 2 tonne off road van, but bigger ones would be fine.

Can you access with 2 wheel drive

You should be able to. It's a dirt road, but we didn't use 4wd to get there.

Where is it located
@ontheroadaustralia11 ай бұрын
Take Gwydir Hwy and turn off onto Coombadjha Rd then turn down Hanging Rock Rd. Hope that helps? Its comes up on google maps as Mann River Broadwater camping ground.

Where the hell is this located please

Type Mann River free camp into google maps. It's just north of Cangai in NSW. There are road names and more info in earlier comments too.

I found this site to be littered with rubbish and human faeces. Plus cows trampled my tent when I was off paddling in the river.

That sucks. It was really nice when we were there. It should be for people who have their own facilities 🚽 and look after the place.

Last time I went well before the epidemic, toilet paper & poo everywhere, open fires left, rubbish and was a far cry from when I first went.... Was an ideal spot way back when.
@ontheroadaustralia6 ай бұрын
It was quite good when we were there. But it is a shame when a few spoil these free places for everyone else.
