The deer hunting sure has changed since I started in 1974, but glad we hold onto our traditions. God willing I will up in Sawyer County November 2025.

I have hunted those woods from Dunbar/Goodman all the way up to tippler. Not many deer left anymore, but nothing beats the beauty of those woods. I’ll be back up this next week for black powder. I can’t wait to see your part two video. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I had some luck opening day with a good sized 8pt, but I'm Central, WI on private land. Used to do public land near Rhinelander/Tomahawk. Saw more bears and wolves than deer up there!

That is the truth. We do not have the deer up north like we use to but the traditions really are super important. We now do most of our bow hunting in central Wisconsin but you can not beat up north for gun season!! I've hunted there since 1993 and could never change. It is different for each person and we would love to hear what your traditions are!

Those Wolves have taken their toll on the deer. I lived on 40 Acres in Glidden Wisconsin west of Yall towards Hayward.,

Its tough up there, not like it was in the 80's and early 90's. Hopefully the deer herd recovers for all the traditional camps in the north woods. I got lucky on public opening day with a cool video

Someone needs a lesson in slicing brisket, always across the grain. It won’t affect the flavor, but makes it more tender and easier to eat

@ normally I cut across grain but… the smoker caught on fire and the outside was a bit crispy and the meat was too tender so I could not cut across. Had to go along it and it just melted apart. The angle of the cut made 0 difference to the flavor lol it all worked out. Couple cocktails and a out of control fire things happen it’s up north ha ha ha

I had it happen before, let it rest awhile, then you can slice it properly. I’m a Texan, brisket is very important to be done right here. But I enjoy your videos!

How do you know that those people didn’t scout. Maybe they did when you weren’t there. Sound winey. It’s public property. It’s not your spot. Early bird gets the worm.
@FallentreeOutdoors

Not complaining at all in fact I stated it is public land. and I know because its sand soil and 0 tracks until the night before season. I have hunted the same area since 1993 and I am vary aware of those around me. when someone places a ground blind 50 yards from mine or a tree stand where I park it get to be tough to stay happy. but I left them hunt and they shot deer. Did I hunt my stands? No. Did i ask them to leave? also no. Because its public land. And FYI one of the people literally came into the stand 15 min after shooting light and I was there already. I still left. They did not. so it gets frustrating. Thanks for watching and as always we all need to be sportsmen as well as hunters.

I've hunted the same spot on public land for 50 years and I have a tip if you were setup first stand your ground don't move chances are next day they will be gone or at least next year they probaly won't show.I have outlasted a dozen other hunters on public land.
