Hey NL, upgraded midnight charm only requires a 5 to roll two 6s. It is so good, you shouldn't underrate it every time you see it. Also would have synergized so well with 6 shooter btw :)

RoyaL A normal player would see something obviously good and then abuse it but Ryan looks at it and says it is garbage. Slow down time? Nah, why bother. Upgrading Neutralize? That’s a garbage card. Hall of Mirrors gives me additional dice to roll? Why bother, I don’t need extra dice as the witch. I think you see where I’m going with this. Someone will eventually tweet him and he’ll read 1/3rd of the suggestion then complain about how chat is giving him bad advice.

Upgraded six shooter and upgraded moonlight can give you like 36 damage a turn. If you also have things that help fix rolls.

i feel like you missed out on so much potential by skipping midnight charm, a gurenteed weaken, heal and 12 damage every turn is great

@@pauloat it takes in a value of 10(5 when upgraded) and gives you two 6's with this he would have a 6 for both shovel and venus fly trap every turn and have an extra equipment slot to use on something(like the snowball that was in the shop)

Yeah I took midnight charm on my run with the hammer instead of the shovel and it makes things sooooo much easier

Depends on your build and who's guarding what on the map. In his situation it likely would have been better not to level up, but if you can take advantage of the extra dice, then go for it.

btw the boss's name is pronounced Sku (As in the first syllable of Skull) Hawk. It's weird but that's because she's based off a character from Irish Mythology, and Irish Gaelic pronunciations are weird.

wdym? freeze is good against a lot of enemies some it makes it so they literally can't do damage if you freeze enough dice and others it severely hinders the problem is you need a lot of it to do so.

@@spectacularsceptile3879 I mean exactly what I mean, my niBBa Every element has its ups and down, even against enemies that dont have an explicitly stated weakness. There's only 15 eps in this series so far, if you've been paying close attention you notice he has a strong preference for freezing dice. This has arguably affected his progress negatively, especially when he fails to unequip freeze cards for certain enemies.

@@BirdRaiserE I think that he just hasn't realized the power of refactoring your build for different fights in general. Even so, the couple of times he's gone into the Snowman fight rocking the ice build he's managed to eke out the W. The last Scathach fight probably could've bodied him if his luck were a bit worse, but he still did okay, I'd say.

@@swudurshchurf2386 All true, but you just know the day is coming when it happens again because it's a one click mistake. IMHO ice is the highest risk-reward element. You can turn all the high-roll high-damage enemies into jokes but you risk enabling some real dangerous poison bois and of course there's the obvious ice-themed enemies

NL, you seem to have a strong attachment to Spiked Shield that hinders your ability to adapt your play style. You use it mainly for the shield and hardly use the offense potential built into it. I think that you miss out on a lot of offense potential and chances to work with other item interaction because shield is your go-to for keeping the damage off of you. I believe that you should be a bit more aggressive with more damaging moves, but since you want to use defense, I do not see why you do not go for iron shield which allows for a more defensive play.

I disagree, he's actually pretty good with the shield IMO. While yes, iron shield is empirically better, he was able to get 'lethal' several times in the run thanks to Spiked Shield's versatility. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But you're entitled to your opinion.

@@TheRealPunkachu I agree that he was able to get lethal off of spiked shield a couple of times in this run, but for me, it's not about him picking up spike shield over iron shield. It's about him overvaluing meh defense and meh offense over using a better 2-slot for closing out the fight sooner or getting more out of shields. Sure, you can say 'if it ain't broke don't fix it', but in similar series, like Slay The Spire, it wasn't until he needed to start seriously reevaluating charms, potions and other viable options that he started making more effective choices and I simply want him to be ahead of the curve before that point in this game. I ain't trying to bully him into playing my way.

I like how NL pretty much exclusively used the Spiked Shield for shielding but still refused to take Iron Shield instead of it. Even in situations where he could have benefited from Spiked Shield being able to do damage, he still usually ended up having to shield instead, or could have used Shovel or Fly Trap (IE the beetle fight). Like, dude just take the Iron Shield for guaranteed defense.

It's funny but I only really beat this one via not fighting many enemies. I missed out on two levels, but upgraded iron shield, spikey shield and venus fly trap was enough for me to win lol

One mistake I’d really like to see NL fix in general is not buying anything in the shop. Even if you don’t necessarily need anything it’s often best to pickup something you think could be helpful later on.

You could get multiple stuff you want on later floors and not be able to afford them cause you bought so much trash

Just don't buy trash, most often there is at least one piece of equipment that could be useful that is worth picking up. There is rarely a reason to ever buy more than 2 things at any shop so most of the time saving is worthless.
