Finally climbed to A15, although I really should be studying for my GRE instead. Should I be writing this comment, then? Who knows. Act 1: - Wreath of Flame's utlity over other attacks is A: with Ragnarok, Flying Sleeves, Bowling Bash, etc and B: storing the attack until Wrath. It's fairly mediocre otherwise, especially when taking into account the fact that it's a skill. - Cutting a Strike over a Defend seems unwise since he's elite hunting. - Conclude is a great card. I would take Empty Fist over Crush Joints; it doesn't need an upgrade and vastly improves the utility of Eruption. - Another early Judgement. Great card; let's hope that NL can supplement it with scaling now. - Two quick Elite fights, two well handled combats. - Okay, the Lagavulin was definitely mishandled; the Calm would have let him go Eruption > Strike > Judgement for the ez kill. It's a 9 HP mistake, which shouldn't be relevant in the long run though. - Ragnarok is a great pickup, even considering how much worse it is than Bludgeon. Wreath of Flames, Wrath/Calm, and Judgement all help support a quick burst turn. - It's the Slime Boss, which means NL should have an incredibly easy time. Shouldn't have rested at the rest site. - Still want to see an empty fist come in the deck. - Look, he literally oneshot in 3 turns. Really, really should have upgraded both times. - Vault is the best one here by far; Nirvana is so, so slow and Flow State is still kinda trash. - The more I play, the more I appreciate the power of potions. Still, Sozu is the most generically not bad energy relic. Act 2: - Champ. On the one hand, Watcher can really go super hard on the pop-off turns, but on the other hand NL hasn't really ever set up for those pop-off turns. - Vault ending turn should really be on its own line. - Egg needs more block, ye. - Wireheading is nice utility for digging for that judgement, although it's not scaling on its own. Ragnarok can carry you past the act 2 boss, but not comfortably... - Good elite fight all things considered. Still not finding any real stance manipulation or scaling, though. - The glow might need to be brighter. - Devotion is some much needed scaling, and I think is a better buy than the 1 dex. Really good against Champ as well. - Double resting is a facetank play, but it doesn't really fix NL's big problem. - NL's card order with Wrath is pretty wonky. Also, as a note, a Wrath Wreath of Flame Ragnarok does 132 damage outside of weak, so he wouldn't be close to oneshotting; a Vuln Wreath of Flame Ragnarok does 99 damage so it would work. - Wish is great. Also, with Watcher Runic Pyramid is so so good and would set up Wreath + Ragnarok consistently. Choker is fiiiine, but it prevents some of the really broken stance swapping stuff; not a problem for NL who hasn't tried it out yet. Act 3: - Wish random targeting is kinda annoying. - Fasting is a fine jack-of-all-trades card. Artifact is really good! - Madness, if it doesn't hit Ragnarok or Wish, is really, really bad. NL's card draw is really not that good, and he has choker. Just making something free isn't that good unless you can abuse that. - Egg forgets about Choker, the movie. - With all the HP Egg's stacking up, taking the Doubt and healing to full means he can just facetank the boss. Not horribly played all things considered, but lots of small mechanical misplays.

Flow state is amazing. Literally half an act later you're complaining that he didn't find any good stance manipulation. Flow state _is_ stance manipulation. It's one of the best cards the watcher has, mate. You're on A15 already. You should know this. He ought to have grabbed wallop over wish, and gone hunting for events in act two for necronomicon. Grabbing that with wreath of flames would've won the run even on high ascension. Also, he picked every card selection wrong in act 1, which is why he had some serious issues. The rares were good until the boss fight, so two of the nine(?) he added weren't wrong. At least we'll be here for a while. He was playing the most OP build on A0/1 and managed a 25% winrate. That's so awful that it's laughable. Beats children of morta though, so there's that I guess. = /

I think it's a clunky card and that the flexibility in stance manipulation it provides is not worth the extreme opportunity cost the card presents, especially considering that some of the Watcher's best common pieces in Empty Body and Empty Fist crowd out the card and that you rarely want to enter Wrath more than once in a turn unless you're already comboing off. It's been buffed by going down to Uncommon on the live patch so maybe I'll actually draft it, but having a card that's combo fodder at Rare sucks especially when its role is so easily replaced with cards at common. To put it another way, there's almost nothing that it can do that makes it much better than an Empty Mind. Stance manipulation scaling generally doesn't come from a Flow State specifically, it comes from abusing the hell out of Mental Fortress and Adaptation with Calm generators for block generation and deck searching. The damage can come from Retain + Divinity or even Alpha instead of simply with Wrathed attacks. I generally find hunting for a specific event to be not worth sacrificing pathing considerations; the odds of getting the Book event are low in the first place without flight, and boots charges are really not worth using just on hoping to roll Necronomicon on a 1/3 chance (Not like the other books aren't extremely good, but what you're proposing is essentially rolling a natural 20 and winning). In addition, NL already visited pretty much every ? he could find, so the criticism isn't even founded on anything.

I'm not comparing it to Crescendo and Tranquility, I'm comparing it to Empty Fist and Empty Mind, cards which are active in the exact same situations as Flow State (i.e. in Wrath or Calm). Unlike Flow State, though, the two cards A: are common, B: offer things outside of stance manipulation, and C: don't require an upgrade to become reusable.

Calling Ragnarok a worse card than Bludgeon annoys me slightly because while in a vacuum, Bludgeon is better Ragnarok in most scenarios, Ragnarok is a Watcher card and they have a lot of ways to exploit a card like that pretty dumbly, so it's not helpful to directly compare them very much.

Had a really fun Wreath of Flame deck. Was mostly defensive then you'd blow enemies up with a Wreath of Flame'd Ragnarok which got doubled up by Necronomicon and also had cards like Wallop which gave the deck a lot of decent aggression/defense when Ragnarok combo-ing just wasn't ready yet. Only wish I had taken Crescendo much earlier to make the Ragnarok explosion even better. Also, 24:50 that Conclude: "Hey I'm her- Oh. The fight is already over? I'm... I'm just gonna go"

I don't think our beautiful egg boy has realized how wreath of Flame damage is doubled when in wrath, based on the several times where that could have ended a fight sooner. Then again, I don't know if he's fully wrapped his head around Wrath in general. He's definitely learning though, keep it up Eggman! EDIT: He really can learn! I'm kind of mad NL got there with this deck because I had a similar deck, and managed to fuck it up with bad math on Blasphemy + Wreath of Flame + Ragnarok. Watching him not set up the Wrath/Wreath of Flame/Ragnarok combo while Time Lord was healing was maddening to watch. He also managed to not take Devotion twice. Wish + Devotion works real well.

Don't worry, he'll be punished for those misplays sooner, rather than later. Sucks that he recorded the whole week on Thursday though. We're not see any new patches until tomorrow, it seems. It's gonna be hilarious though.

I had no idea Wreath of Flame stuck around after your turn ended. It's still 1 energy for 5 damage... maybe good against the thorn enemies in the 3rd act... or in some sort of prism build where all your damage is coming from other decks (caltrops, poison, lightning orbs)? Also, the way it's worded definitely makes it sound like even if you pop a multi-attack, it's just gonna drop 5x damage at the END... like (5x5)+5, not 5(5+5). I haven't actually played the Watcher, so my only info comes from these videos and your comments.

I've never been able to make Swivel work because whenever I pick it, I don't get offered high cost attacks and whenever I pick high cost attacks I don't get offered Swivel.

He had a shot at both cards, too. Aside from judgement and Ragnarok he misplayed almost every card selection. A1 is even easier than A0, it's literally the only reason he won. A5+ and he wouldn't have even made it to Act 3.

Those mantra cards are pretty crappy scaling. Depending on which cards you're referring to, you'd have to go through your deck at least twice for them to do anything. Way too slow for only one turn of triple damage (only to have to repeat all over again).

Lol, most of us are on A10+ already, and rarely lose (especially on the build NL went 3-10 with. Assuming everyone is as bad as one of the worst players is a pretty massive underestimation of the general skill level of the community. P.S. character is just as "widely unavailable" for us as it is for him. I'm not sure you really thought this one through.
