This is why I watch Northernlion. For those amazing moments where he inexplicably makes progress despite numerous stupid mistakes. When he should in all honesty be dead or dying and certainly hopeless, he makes a break through. It's like he's the perfect example of a human being: Extremely flawed and prone to stupid mistakes (and repeating them) but in spite of that, capable of genuinely amazing things.

It wasn't so much going after him, it was him thinking it was a good idea to try and jump over the psychic blast when he could of just walked back a bit and let it dissipate. If he didn't try and jump it, he would of had a jetpack and shotgun ready for City of Gold.

There are two altars in the game, the sacrificial altar and the altar that the golden idol is sitting on. He usually refers to the sacrificial altar as "The altar" and the idol's altar as "The Idol". Sometimes he gets them mixed up and refers to the idol as the altar, as in "Maybe we'll go to the altar" and "Maybe we'll get the altar" but he's technically not incorrect.

Technically he's correct, as an altar is (as defined by google dictionary) "A table or flat-topped block used as the focus for a religious ritual, esp. for making sacrifices or offerings to a deity."

NL has said in the past that even those who comment negatively without reason are only supporting him. He's fine with it, and I don't think you have the right to say the opposite on his behalf. Besides, we yell at Ryan because he DOES act stupid, and we want to rectify his mistakes! We care about him, about Monty, and about progress.

Yeah, the spiders are pretty annoying, but the red frogs.... I was in the black market with the ankh, a jetpack, and a pistol. I had everything I needed to get to the city of gold. Then, suddenly, a frog decides to blow up in a shop. Point blank buckshot-to-the-face, resurrect at the entrance, then get blown up by ANOTHER FROG. Damn those frogs....

A jet pack is pretty much essential for the 4th of july level so i think it would be best to start at mines and try for the golden city, only doing 4th july if you have jetpack and no anhk

But the yetis in both. Throw you into a wall into the yeti, into the wall, into the yeti, into the wall, etc. They never get tired, and never stop. THEIR JOURNAL ENTRY IS "THEY ARE PLAYFUL CREATURES WHO DO NOT KNOW THEIR STRENGTH" I DONT THINK THEY ARE TOO NICE TO US.

There is also the rare, hate'n'help tactic, where the hater ruthlessly splurges the right thing to do. Just like trying to father an ignorant child who refuses to do the right thing, where the father has to step up the discipline. NL is still a child at this game, and to constantly see the same mistake over and over again, sometimes hate with help is the only way to drill the right info into him. It's sad, but true.

You're partially wrong. In fact, the pc version has more due to mods. You also have certain items that aren't even in the xbla version, such as the handgun, bow&arrow, and a lot more with modding. There is less secrets and enemy variety though. It's also confirmed that the HD versions of spelunky is coming to pc soon, and it will have mods since it is pc, so it will turn out better. There is character select, you just download sprites and drop into folder.

Don't worry Northern! The spiders may be worse but the piranhas are way easier. I've already killed everything in the Rushing Water levels more than once. The giant piranha, AKA Jaws drops four crates, and I kill him with the whip if I have nothing else.

Northernlion, you should always try to defeat the big spiders. Paste is more valuable than what you think. It will make killing Anubis a lot easier. Also, you will never win against the boss in hell without sticky bombs. Try to get at least 20 bombs before enteing the city of gold.
