The whole stock stuff, getting 3-5% over a long period is nice. It's the long game you're going for and ETFs or mid-risk packages work quite well for that. The active trading should be that, active. You'd need to be on the ball with that.

Amazon does "artificially decrease" their stock price. They regularly go through stock splits so the cost per share decreases making it easier for people to buy shares at lower prices. They had one this year at the end of August, though I don't remember the exact ratio because Tesla did one at the same time. Now is basically the perfect time to buy Amazon stock until the next split.

Hey NL, long time viewer first time commentor. As a relatively new full time stock trader (Self employed) it is awesome to see you get into it! I personally think everybody should invest at least some money into stocks. The best advice I can give is to learn to analyse charts. Their are a few very good youtubers who can guide you on the basics - Raynor Teo & Humbled Trader are two that helped me in the early days. You're a smart dude, with a analytical mind. Charts can tell you everything you need to know, without even looking into a company. I spend about 85% of my time analysing charts, 10% researching into the company (investor presentations, pipelines, financials) and 5% looking at forums to see what other people might be thinking. This can vary slightly depending on if I predict it being a short or long hold. I'm from Australia and trade the ASX. If you ever venture out into foreign markets I'll happily share some of my predictions. I've got one stock in particular that I'm anticipating big things for in 5-10 years time. Good luck! Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do you manage daily expenses being a full time stock trader? Do you do a lot of day trading? How do you balance short term gains to be able to afford the cost of living while also investing in long term goals for the future?

@@PlayLaughLogan I make sure I have a certain amount of money in my bank at all times, that is readily accessible for any bills/expenses. I live very frugally - work from home, don't drive, don't buy shit, etc, so that number doesn't need to be too high. I don't like to drop below $30,000 at a rule. Most of my trades are over multiple days - weeks, but sometimes I am in and out within 10 minutes. Have to be flexible with the strategy. You can make a lot of money in a very short amount of time. I hold 6-7 stocks at once and rotate, sell one buy another. Of the profits I make I'll put ~60% into the bank, so that I have capital gains tax covered plus topping up from expenses. Reinvest the remaining ~40%. Long term stocks I just buy whenever they dip if I have spare money and hold, of which I only have 1 guaranteed 5-10 year hold.

Employee stock plans are the way to go (for us non-KZbinrs). There's usually a discount or company matching funds up to a certain amount. I wish I'd had the spare money at my last place of employment when it was about $100 a share... it's split and gotten back up to over $400 now

NL, I bought some dogecoin on a lark a year or two ago. 2500 dogecoin, actually. Kept it for 6 months and yeeted it for a $2.16 profit. The dream is real. On the other hand, I bought AMZN before it was 1k per share, sold way before the new heights, and used the profit to pay off my HELOC. Kinda wish I would've held on, but I can't be mad. (Also note, I'm in the midwest where a decent house is 60k - I'm not loaded with stocks or anything).

As much as I appreciate this series coming back, I feel like it'd be better of just being a podcast. If I hadn't been watching the video but just listening, I wouldn't even be able to tell they were playing GeoGuessr aside from the "oh by the way, gotcha by 100 points" once per round. Maybe it's cause they've seen most of what there is to see in GeoGuessr or they've gotten too good at it, but I find the older series to be way more entertaining.

I would recommend investing in gaming companies. It's something you probably know pretty well so all you need to do is digg deeper in the business side. Edit: Just to be clear, not ANY gaming companies. But you will have a better chance in picking winners as well as getting out when the tide starts turning for your chosen companies.

Edit: But if you are honestly really interested in Learning to invest, I would really look into Warren Buffet and Peter Lynch. Everyone knows Warren Buffet, but Peter Lynch is an amazing ressource and was an extremely successful mutual fund manager.
