Perhaps the mystery handle is an earlier material than bakelite called gutta percha, a 19th century moldable plastic often used to make early photo cases

The handle, probably from a straight razor, might be made of gutta percha, one of the first man made plastics. It was created from latex derived from the gutta tree that grows in Malaysia. It might also be Vulcanite or Ebonite, which is also an early plastic, made by adding sulphur to rubber. Both are lightweight and moldable. I loved the piece of spongeware with the Schwoo and the miniature Codd bottle! Great finds!

Lot of firsts in this video! Mini codd bottle, a full pipe, dandelion coffee. Here in the states they had sweet potato coffee. A proper peahen ceramic piece was the icing on the cake. Great stuff.
