love the canoe. i have a Pocket Canyon. i have a few canoes, including a 40 pound prospector, but it's hard to describe to some people, just how nice a plastic (t formex/royalex) canoe is. quiet, warm when cold out, slippery on rock. a real pleasure to paddle and bump along on rivers, shallow lakes and ponds.

Instead of using a round frying pan to fry your fish, think about taking a bread pan instead. I'm impressed with your using fresh food rather than relying on freeze dried.

Bit of an odd ending, but I’m envious of your trip, and thanks, as always, for the geo lesson. On the drone footage, either it’s early season, or there’s a ton of dead wood. Unfortunately it looks like there’ll be a fire to clean it all out soon. So there’s this fly pattern I found in a book that I thought was ridiculous, but turned out to be my go to pattern for wet flies in rocky river systems. The stone fly nymph is a must. The upper thorax is rabbit dubbing, wet hackle for legs (trimmed if needed) turkey quill feather for wing case (use some head cement or lacquer to make it solid and shiny), a couple of quill fibres for a tail, and the kicker is a small rubber band for the body! Use varying tension while tying to give the taper, and it rolls on to give both a little weight, and a perfect segmented body. Tie some on various long shanked hooks. I’ve found some casings from emerged stone flies, and compared the pattern, and it’s so close to the real thing. I’ve almost never been skunked with those things. Sadly, now I’ll have to kill you and everyone else that reads this to keep my secret 😀

@@NorthernScavenger Depends on what’s in the waters, and what’s hatching at the time….or what’s swimming under there. There are also many attractor patterns that don’t resemble anything, there are also many minnow patterns and I even have a baby bird pattern for pike and large bass. Doesn’t always have to follow what’s natural, or even common. Hey, everyone has their favs. Doesn’t mean you can’t try a new one….plus if it works, it’s one of the easiest patterns out there.

in one week i go on river trip with the same boat. now for this kind of small river i use sheap #3 flyrod but with one hand spey line like opst skagit, so easy, and strike indicator help to. So you show us a nice poling.

Another great video of a trip to enhance the soul. Good to see you expanding your repertoire of canoe skills. But you need to place the foot of the pole slightly further back so you are not pulling on it like a paddle. Push using the pole down the length of it instead, it is so much more efficient.
