We stay inside where it's nice and warm. Heck, when we get snow or ice here, it shuts everything down! We don't know how to drive on that stuff, there are no such things as snow chains or snow tires here...lol

I was a very young man and away from home on Christmas. I found a ugly tree and was carrying it into my rental and a girl commented as to how pitiful my tree looked. I invited her to help me decorate with tinfoil and whatever. She called some friends and we all contributed to a "HoBo" stew and just talked. 40 years later that girl Debbie and I still exchange cards and our friendship is the best and only gift I got that year. Merry Christmas Joe & Melissa and everyone else as well.

I have a similar stove with the reburn thingy...Mine burns coal or wood too. Joe, give it a shot with that converter thing I guess...But I'm sure you'll do the same thing I did & end up tossing it in the scrap pile. I just use it as a regular wood stove & it works perfect. Fill it, set the dampers & walk away.

🎄 Christmas tree 🎄 reminds me of Charlie Brown, but after the decorations adorned the tree 🌲 it turned out beautiful, besides it’s REAL. I remember as a kid my dad taking myself & brother out to the woods on a neighbor’s property to cut down our tree for Christmas 🎄 those were the good old days, we had to walk a mile back to the woods. I love watching the deer thru the night vision camera, my sister has deer come into her yard to eat the birdseed & in the Fall, apples off the tree. I like that iron stove, my granny had a huge pot belly stove which heated the farmhouse, using both wood & coal, it was beautiful with silver chrome (?) it was a fancy stove alright and huge! Merry Christmas to you & Melissa & the family.

If it was the power company that cut down your screen out front under the power lines, its common. I work as a utility forester and plan for that exact thing, it is easier, cheaper, and safer to just remove the stuff from below the lines. Usually it is a 4-5 year turnaround before they get back out there to trim/ remove again, and its crazy how quick they grow back.

That much I understand but they came and talked to us twice and both times we said do NOT cut it to the ground. They said they had to cut the actual trees to the ground, that is there standard procedure but the brush (Speckled Alder) they would leave. They got a little carried away to say the least. At least like you said, it will grow back fast.

Joe outstanding videos. Competent and clear. You are a master craftsman and technician. I am a biologist and I am concerned about the metal box with the peeling paint in the inside of your chicken coop. If that dates pre 1970 it will have toxic lead and other metal compounds in the paint used to surface metal. Those lovely ladies would just love to injest those paint flakes. Not good for them and not at all good for you and Mellisa eating their eggs. Ditch the metal box pronto. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

You shouldn't keep a light on all night in the hen house. Hens need to have the cycle of day and night in order to consistently lay eggs. even if the light is on for short periods at night will throw their laying off. I never go into the hen house after dark and I keep a light on a timer so it turns on at 530 am. My 7 hens give me 7 eggs every day this way.

Have you thought about feeding the deer Oats, instead of corn, for winter? Seems like a more digestible food, this time of year. The tree is perfect. You have a bit of snow up there. 200 miles south S/E SD, I can see small portions of grass still. Hope it stays this way. Buck will be better in 3 years. Found out, neighbors cat is now living outdoors. Turns out, it’s a SnowFrank, not a snowball. Plugging in a heated water dish, and putting out food. Also turned on a trail camera, to make sure who’s using the dish, and eating the food. Love the videos. Keep them coming. Maybe Mel, can make more appearances.

You might be able to get enough parts off to lighten it enough for you and Melissa to lift it down. (remember down is much easier than up.) Too bad you don't have a winch and pulleys from deer hunting there at the farm to lift it down. 💝☀🌵

You need to have that house up early if you’ll have any chance to attract them for the 2020 season. Is there a pond nearby? They like that. Best of luck; they’re great to have around.
