Is it a bad thing at all if I think that regarding transit in PNX, that investing in a commuter rail system would be a better use for said transit investment? Particularly Salem & Longview/Kelso? As well as enhancing services along said Amtrak services between Eugene OR & Everett WA? 90 mph services and Oregon buying/building tracks at very bare minimum?

The expansion is estimated to bring the average daily ridership up from 80,000 to 110,000.

anyone know if there's a ramp to get to the pick up areas? My mother had to have me come help her because the elevators were closed, the escalators were closed, and she couldn't carry her suitcases down the stairs. I assume she probably missed some thing, but it was dark and not at all obvious to me how she would get down without either of those. There has to be some sort of disability access, correct? Besides elevators and escalators and stairs?

Unfortunately, for most stations those are the only means of access. Particularly with elevated or underground stations ramps are challenging to implement. What station would this have been?

@@thehouseoftransit2719 north gate last Tuesday 8 PM. Elevators not working, escalators, coned off. she was coming back from the airport. She had never run into both being closed so the steps were apparently the only option. which I find hard to believe they would build a mass transit with no disability access? or exit. I don't know how it works. Maybe they don't have places for wheelchairs on the trains I don't know. Maybe they don't expect anybody that can't use the stairs to use the light rail?

everybody had to use stairs, not just her. and people were complaining. I saw a post about elevators being down, broken under construction, whatever, but nothing about the escalators And elevators being shut down. I mean, if that is truly the case, it should be a lot easier to find information that says if you are unable to navigate steps, you should not take the light rail or you can get stuck on the platform because you can't get to the garage

@@jmcmeins6596 Sound Transit is very much intended (and legally obligated) to be used by anyone, so the non-functioning elevators and escalators are a big issue. I also traveled on Link on Tuesday and that was definitely a frustrating situation, particularly given the lack of redundant elevators. It is rare that a station will be rendered fully inaccessible by elevators outages like that, but when it does happen people are forced to exit at a different stop and connect via a bus, which is far from convenient.

I will add though that on Tuesday every train made an announcement that passengers using Northgate’s elevators need to exit at Roosevelt and travel to Northgate via route 67.

why they f'n spending money (tax dollars) on these art projects? i couldn't care about the "windows" ...stop wasting time and build a nice functional expansion and stations
