Set fire
To an icon
Set fire
To the lie
Set fire
Bid farewell
I’ll be a martyr to myself
Where do I go
If every turn there’s a vulture waiting
To pick at my bones
And bury me alive
My lungs are whitewashed
A million thoughts on the tip of my tongue
I can’t keep hiding
My guts in tight knots
Abandon who I’ve become,
Or fight for what’s inside me?
Set fire
To an icon
Set fire
To the lie
Set fire
Bid farewell
I’ll be a martyr to myself
Where do I go
If every turn there’s a vulture waiting
To pick at my bones
And bury me alive
It’s me against the world
I feel their claws sinking in
As the life spirals out from my inner self
Let the earth where I carved my name
Burn
Set fire
To an icon
Set fire
To the lie
Set fire
Bid farewell
I’ll be a martyr to myself
Where do I go
If every turn there’s a vulture waiting
To pick at my bones
And bury me alive
Where do I go
If every turn there’s a vulture waiting
To pick at my bones
And bury me alive
It’s me against the world

Personally now that alien and obsidian are out I'd argue with you about the insanity. For me the top competitors would be Freefall, Details Matter, Clarity and Echo chamber. But if we're talking of screaming competitors that'd be Details Matter (obviously) and Talking heads

Rattlesquid bob 2013 - i had few days of "sleepless partying" and came home to find my hardcopy of Singularity in the letterbox....i put that shit on and i have to tell you, dismissing the state i was already in (allegedly), that first few minutes is up there with my alltime BEST music experiences (in my bedroom) ever not to mention full album listen.....🔥🔥🔥 Singularity was the HANDS DOWN SHIT - Im a big believer in music being subjective but i cant see how people even put this in the same basket......this sounds good but nothing even close to "everything" about Singularity (they call me an Adrian fanboy but forget the vocals try tell me this music feels same 😂)......lets see what next album us all about - I really liked Intuition and Paragon

Anthony J Lee I don't know what type of metal you listen to but most of the metal bands I listen to release 2 or 3 singles 3 months before a full album release. By only releasing singles you're pandering to a crowd that doesn't even listen to this style of music to begin with. Everyone I know that listens to this style of music enjoys albums not songs.
@ReapingDestruction92
@ReapingDestruction92 6 жыл бұрын
dude I never said that I enjoy only singles lmao I'm saying that its good for the industry. by releasing one off singles like this they're able to stay in the public consciousness and stay relevant compared to say WCAR who didn't release an album for like 3 years and barely play venues that're half the size of what they used to play. sure label changes and a revamp is what WCAR needed but its an example. Northlane is NOT releasing an album soon. this is a one off

My favourite song on this new album. Those kind of "horns" on the back during the chorus when he says "Where do I go" and "To pick at my bones" bring you to another dimension. I love this new album

Northlane is so bad ass. They are the BEST “metal” “hardcore” whatever you wanna call it. They’re the best band at doing it. Also your current singer is the best too.

Agreed, though only with Node. Mesmer was amazing and had lots of heavy parts with Marcus doing lows. Though this single is probably the heaviest since Wolrdeater. I love it

Okay really. If they can produce an album that mostly consists of songs like this (without getting too repetitive), it can be the best album they've ever released with Marcus.

Imo Parkway Drive lost its identity, sorry to say that ... IRE and Reverence are not looking similar or showing something like the other albums ... Nor with "Atlas". They sound like another band now,I cant dig their new songs but that's ok.

Nah Parkway totally fucked up their sound and changed direction completely. I understand artistic freedom but there is absolutely no possible defense for person 1 telling person 2 off because person 2 doesn't like the new parkway. Parkway had, yes an older style but to change so drastically from a melodic metal with atmosphere to a rocky metal with chanty aggressive vocals in the vast majority of songs is a kick in the teeth to anyone who ever liked them for what they were especially since they had such a unique style and were loved for it. Just listen to Killing with a smile, Atlas, Horizons and even Deep Blue and then compare the sound of a single song to that of a song from the new albums. It's completely different so to say that someone can't be annoyed or have distaste for that is bullshit.
