Those look a luxurious & cheerful cottage garden bouquet! We have terrible drought & the wildfire smoke here in central NY too! It's been the oddest spring in memory. That Kousa Dogwood is an ongoing show stopper! Your pragmatic approach to what's best for where you are will make for a wonderful video! Can't wait to see/hear your choices. Thanks, Danielle!

You're one of my favorite channels. Can't wait for the next video. Funny you mentioned bears breeches. I couldn't figure out why mine wouldn't bloom for several years. This year I finally thought to move it to more sun, and wouldn't you know, it has several blooms now! So when you find it, plant it in full sun. The rain situation here in Ohio has me very distressed. Last year I was complaining about cucumber beetles. It's always something! 🙏 🌧

I'm always envious of the flowers you're able to grow, like you never have significant issues with keeping them alive. Your bouquets are always so pretty and I just love the wispy movement they have! I think so many areas are in need of rain right now. We were blessed with a 1/2"+ last weekend! It was a very isolated downpour with small hail. I was so happy to not need to water my gardens for a couple days, and it helped that it cooled off so that it didn't evaporate so quickly. We are getting a haze here in Northern Ind & I could smell it a little bit this morning. Agreeing to sending many prayers for those enduring those wildfires and praying for some good rains that won't cause mudslide issues.

Please wear a mask when you go out and take care of your health. In 2020 when we were dealing with 200+ active fires throughout the state here in California we couldn’t find air purifiers because they were sold out everywhere. One of the side effects of smoke inhalation is heart attacks 6 to 8 months after exposure. Please monitor your loved ones health and stay hydrated. Keeping you all in my prayers. ❤

For Clarkia I pull off the bottom blooms and let the top half bloom. I feel like cutting the tops off takes away the flowy shape of the stem. I've recently heard that the seed pods are very pretty, almost an alternative to rose hips. But I'm not sure if the variety makes a difference on that. I'm growing the grace series this year so I'm excited to find out! 💕

It was that smoke that you smelled. We can smell it in Ohio too. We just moved from California and it was the same experience with wildfires there. That campfire smell in the air is a hallmark of wildfires, strange tint to color to the sunlight, air quality warnings, and waiting for the winter rains to put out the fires. Now we have them here in the midwest too.

Danielle, today we finally got rain here in Toronto, On. I really hope it will follow its path to your area, too! You are right about the smell of smoke - it's from the wildfires in Quebec and north of Ontario, we could smell it too. We have rain in the forecast for Monday, so hope it will save our forests and gardens from fire and us from that smoke. I totally agree with you about the effect of climate/weather rather than the assigned zone when growing plants: for example, I have had snapdragons and annual for our area salvia overwinter perfectly fine. Finally, I have to say, I love your bouquets, you have a great taste. Thank you for your videos and information you share with us. Keep up the great work!

I think that's a great idea! Because I think I have basically the same climate! Usually a ton of rain- & very humid! (But also experiencing drought this year! We just got rain the first time the other day in I think 5 weeks, & we usually get rain several days a week!) Also have pretty clay soil. Stays wet, & isn't nice & fluffy lime most peoples. I have to use my trowel & like dice up the soil to backfill the holes when planting! So Jealous of people like Laura from garden answers nice fluffy, dry soil! Urgh! Lol

Yes, the smell of smoke and the hazy air is often an issue here in the SF Bay Area when there are fires in the Santa Cruz mountains or north of us in Marin and Sonoma counties. Mostly this year we are having nighttime temps in the upper 40’s and daytime in the low 60’s. Termed June Gloom for coastal and Bay towns/cities.

Loved that bouquet! We have had some haze here in In. from the smoke. We are getting badly needed rain today, and a cool down. So dry here we have big cracks in the ground.....so I doubt it will be enough. I do a farmers market once a wk. I tried ranuncs. for the second yr. under frost cloth for shade. I did get some blooms..not many so far. They are beautiful. My plan was to put them with my bupleurum that comes back from dropped seed every yr. It is perfect right now...can't seem to get the timing right with a flower to go with it!! I have more bupleurum than ever before! Love your gardens and your info. Trying to hold on to my big gardens and farmers market is getting too hard to do. I think the way you are growing and selling is a great idea!!! I may have just found a better way.

In va beach here! We got the smoke as well! Ended up in the unhealthy 187 air quality. I can’t imagine how terrible it was for those living closer. We however are not in a drought, we get rain consistently every week. So much so that my plants are struggling with all the water especially due to having clay soil. Not to mention still having temperatures in the high 40’s low 50’s which is very unusual here.

I live in Western Canada and every summer we deal with smoke for months. It's gets to the point where it's advised to avoid going outside at all. We'll even have raining ash. Unfortunately a majority of the fires here are human caused since it's so dry and people often don't realize how quickly fires spread here.
