Happy belated Mother´s Day, Danielle! The tricolor beech looks great at it´s new place. I love the idea of taking photos of you and your daughter every Mother´s Day in front of it. You nailed it with your gift (instead of a hanging basket, yeah). Told my hubby to buy me a Lagerstroemia for Mother´s Day online, which has not yet arrived. The arrangement for your mother looks very pretty! To walk with you around at Longwood Gardens was like a belated Mother´s Day gift for me. THANKYOU so much ! Best wishes, Hanni.

I have 3 Tricolor beeches in my garden, so I have had a lot of experience with these beautiful trees. Just to give you some advise, hope you do not mind, stake your new baby with a long pole to pull that leader straight up, it is on too short a stake currently. They are prone to aphids so look out and catch it early before those pests eat the new grow. They grow faster than you might think....

Great advice, again. I could just fall down in those Foxglove and lay there all day. My friend use to live in Chadds Ford, she said the boss where she worked would sometimes announce he was closing at noon and tell everyone to go to Longwood Gardens and enjoy the day. Which she happily did.

Where did you get the Tri color Beech. I had one at our home in NJ but now live here in Willow Street & would love one here in Lancaster County. Love watching you garden so close to me - keeps me on task - like going to the Creamery😂🤣. I haven’t planted my Dahlia or Caladium tubers yet - is the soil warm enough now? Love your channel❤️. Happy Mother’s Day!
@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeanne! Check out Hilltop Gardens/Greenhouse. They seemed a bit picked over Mother's Day weekend, but if you can catch them when their truck comes you can get some great finds. The owner is great. I'm still getting a soil temp of low 50s 4 inches down in my soil, so I'll probably wait another week or two for Dahlias.

When do you plan on directly sowing zinnias seeds and dahlia tubers? 2 weeks from now? Thanks
@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ckayton! Yes, I'm hoping about a week or two. Our nights are still in the high 30s/low 40s. For the Dahlias I like to see a soil temperature of 60 degrees 4 inches down. I do have one wave of zinnia transplants in the ground. I'm not as picky with those.

We planted a Tri-Colored Beech 15 years ago and I don’t think it has grown more than a couple of inches here in central Indiana. Do they need to be composted ever so often?
@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ann! I dont think a light layer of compost would hurt, but my understanding is that these trees are just very slow growing in general. Perhaps, some others can chime in with their experience and help us out.
