I'm a Geordie and a Newcastle united fan all my life and to me Gascoigne was an English Maradonna, he loved his football and loved his country, even though he went to play for Rangers and Lazio, he'll always be an English legend to me. If it wasn't for his drink and drug problems who knows what he could have achieved but that Euro 96 goal against Scotland was legendary.
@Sillygoooose6243 ай бұрын
First memories of football were 1998, so far to young to remember Gazza. I just watched his China documetary. I remember Paul going to China, and him managing Boston. He comes back, is spending time with his kids, with his partner - he says fly fishing relaxes him, but also says how he's scattering his ashes over St. James'. The people around him have earned, and the press - still are voltures in 2024. If Gazza walks past a pub in Gateshead, there will be a story on Daily Mail within an hour. Gazza would have been playing for Guardiola or Barcelona. The crap about Fergie wanting to save him - look at pre 1998 Keane, Ferdinand and how Giggs turned out,

@PaulBaksy3 ай бұрын
@@MrPaulb1982 I wouldn't compare gazza to any other BRITISH player,guy just oozed confidence and on his game he was next level,no other British player had that type of confidence on the ball probably ever.the diffrence between diego and gazza and why there's no comparison,diego thrived on preassure and gazza folded under it,if gazza had a sort of diego mindset he would have took spurs and England at that time to league and world cups thats how good I thought gazza was

Very little to do with drink and drugs and all to do with mental and emotional health, a press and public and team mates that wanted a jester. The guy had a lot of demons, was most probably suffering childhood trauma, definitely on autism spectrum. The English-laddish behaviour, the drinking loutish behaviour surrounding him was his downfall.

For me without doubt the best football player of England! He was a World Class player,but he destroyed unfortunately himself with the biggest and ugliest enemy of the mankind: The Alcohol!!! He had everything but no determination and willpower to kill the alcohol illness. Gazza chose Rangers and his carrot league to have an easy life with alcohol. In PL it is impossible and you cannot play for a long time. The Alcohol also gave him always injuries! Otherwise he had played for United in the 90's with Cantona and Keane. Gazza was on the pitch like Shakespeare 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

We only saw him at his peak for a few seasons before injury basically finished him, it's clearly evident the guy had mental health issues and I found it uncomfortable viewing watching him attempting to be the wise guy at every interview and the fawning sycophants laughing at his imbecilic behaviour, seen him live once and he played very well albeit against a diddy lower league team however some of his touches were sublime, surrounded by too many yes men as opposed to real friends who should have been there to reel him in everytime he started his pish...a tragic waste of talent..
