I started watching your videos a couple of months ago and was so fascinated by board level repair and micro soldering. I ended up buying a soldering/rework station and just completed my first repair with the help of your videos. I replaced a micro USB port that broke off a Bluetooth speaker. The repair included fixing three ripped pads and replacing the connector. What a satisfying experience. I know why your face lights up when the device works again. Keep up the great content and thank you for inspiring me to get into micro soldering.

I’ve got the Wylie version of the pad repair kits but I thought all of the different brands use the same shape pads, that’s why I only purchased from just one brand. Glad I watched this because you just assume they’re all the same but just different packaging. The other brand ones you showed will be brilliant for different situations. Great video as always👍

I get that this isn’t a beginner lesson but, for us beginners elaboration is vital. Like how do the new pad strips stay on the board? Do they merely rest there staying in place due to the solder on the trace part? Why is it important to see your reflection in the blob? What’s going on if you can’t? How do I ensure it’s right?

hi alex, I made a comment on another video of yours regarding how to use the pads but I think you didnt see it, it is much easier if you put a little amount of mask, then put the pads, cure it with the pads in place and then scratch the top of the pads and solder (this way the pads dont move and make the job much easier). hope you like the tip.

I have watched almost every video and one thing everyone must realize is this is a pro in action!! Don't think you can perform these repairs yourself. He makes it look so easy but I know from experience it really isn't. I just took a shit at my 2017 imac firmware chip and ended up pulling one half of the pads up!! Now I've got to send to Northridge fix and pay more!! I wish I would have just sent it in the first olace. Save some money and send it bf attempting! Great video and I'll be sending my board.

Do you show how to replace through hole vias or recommend a guide or video? I may have to buy a flange with a kit. It's on an old Atari 7800 board for the power stage that I got off ebay broken. Pads lifted and some through holes just gone not copper only board.. just subscribed and buying some of these pads. Great channel, thanks!

Very good work. The second type look like the have rings instead of pads. Is this the way they are? On the larger types the outside of the ring is not very wide. I think wider would be better. I believe the rings are used for through hole components.
