Hello Alex, I would really enjoy a mini series of Big Boss showing how to open up devices, specifically the ones you are not supposed to get open. I do have sprudgers etc. however most of the time I do break the plastic hinges/clips and have to weld them on with a used up soldering tip. I am sure there are a lot of intricate details and tricks that he can share just like you do in your field of expertise. Thank you for your continued efforts!

I'm a vintage tube amp repair guy and was working on small PCB's on my friends Roland drum triggers and some of the pads were completely missing. I never knew about pad strips like this until today and want to thank you for what's hopefully a easy repair. Thank you, I learned a lot from this video.

Hi, one idea is to make a live streams. This will save you a ton of time. Just do repairs live - start the camera and forget about it. When a customer comes in, just pause the stream, nobody will get mad. We like how you do the repairs.

Hi Alex great repair. Just a suggestion which I know I'm going to regret saying as it's clear on here that some people really don't like other people having thoughts or opinions but that's life. With your hdmi box I think it would be worth considering adding some caps in there as well. This board repair would be a great example of why it would be handy and it wouldnt really push the cost up that much more.

There is an easier way to solder that tiny cap in. Last time I did one, after applying solder and flux to the pads and sitting the capacitor on the pads, I just heated the two pads on the HDMI connector that connect to it with the soldering iron. The heat actually conducts down to the solder on the cap and it just settles on to the board. No hot air needed, no need to hold it in place, and no risk of having it fly off into the 9th dimension.

Hello, I recently connected a cellphone to my power supply in a reverse polarity for about 10 seconds, the phone took 20 mA current while it was already dead. I want to know the effect on the device for connecting in such a way. Tried to post this in the forum but there was some technical issue.

hello friend, that low melt tin I do it myself, it works even better by mixing chemicals like indium and gallium with flux and some 60/40 tin with the melter, as for the flux. 👍🏻🔝🔝🔝

hello alex, i have acer nitro 5 2019. yesterday i carried it in my bag in a local bus on a bumpy road which shook it from inside I think. when i came back home and turned it on. it showed some weird artifacts on the screen and stuck on acer logo. After opening it from backside and a physical diagnosis. It turned out to be one of a ram slot problem. IF i apply some pressure one the ram and turn it on. It starts up without any issue, but as soon as i remove the pressure from the ram the laptop suddenly crashes with blue screen of death or shows some artifacts on the screen and gets stuck there. I dont know if its a slot problem or motherboard problem? physically both looks in perfect condition. No damage at all to any thing.

Why don't you have to put some UV mask on the board and then put a new pad? It will hold the new pad firmly on the board. If some UV mask comes over the new pad, you may remove it with your grinding tools.
@lakiza552 жыл бұрын
It won't cure if it's under the pad because UV light won't reach it
@chrisv61262 жыл бұрын
The mask under the pad would not harden because the uv light wouldn't touch it.
@pizzalord3n2 жыл бұрын
Would be better off with superglue for that application but not worth the potential mess
@939asad2 жыл бұрын
UV under the pad will increase its height from the board surface hence preventing the neighbouring pads from connecting to their respective pins properly

Guys, newbie question. Are new soldering irons when used 1st time the solder doesn't stick or it does not transfer enough heat? because my brand new one does not work properly and I'm wondering what is wrong with it. Any advice guys?
@summerishere28682 жыл бұрын
Is it a cheap chinese iron? If so your problem is probably on the tips that are usually really bad (no oxidation protection). Buy a decent tip and try with it, it may solve your problem.

You should make it mandatory in EVERY considered repair and a header at the top of the website to tell the customer to mail the entire device in or NO FIX. I saw much more potential problems on both boards and suspect components that look like trouble. If a customer gets angry after reassembling their device and it still does not work, I'd assume that they would not pay you even though it is their fault. Upon opening any device mailed in, if it was not the complete device, reseal and back to the customer with explanation. It is just insanity to even try to make a conscientious effort and waste of time to try and repair these separate components. Like dropping off your car for repair without the key.
