If you talk about Jack for originality & pushing the design envelope, you almost have to mention Kelly Johnson who did so in other ways. I'd find it hard to choose between them. I wish I could walk around that space with you, such an amazing experience. Just imagine if one could bring together all the flying wing people from that ears & hear them swapping stories in different languages - wouldn't that be cool.

My favorite plane...ever...I saw films of it one night decades ago...as a t v sign off thing... Anyway...way ahead of it's time... I grew up just north of the Hawthorne Airport and the Northrop campus, but the manufacturing of the 'wings' happened a decade before I was born. However, seeing pictures and watching rare newsreels showing the N9M, XB35 and YB49 had always fascinated me. As a youth, I never thought about working for Northrop. I was asked to start working there in 1982 and the organization I worked in supported several new aircraft designs over the years, as well as some other top-secret programs - up until I retired in 2014. I was glad to see the B2 finally come to life, but was disappointed when the production number was cut down. I'm glad to hear the B21 has a better chance at full production numbers. I've also been told how the N9MB was stored away instead of being destroyed, and got to see it reassembled and flown after it's decades-long hibernation. I was devastated when I learned of the crash that killed the pilot and destroyed that amazing little aircraft. Thanks for posting the video ... ;)
