That Phoenix looks like a dream to paddle! Great tip about using your core!

Good advice for bigger waters, like the Mississippi or Boundry waters

Thanks for the C stroke pointers. I'll try that next time out.

...and as for paddles, well, you needed to have travelled with plenty, a long way, in many canoes, in many contexts. I get a little hung up with the idea of limited paddle choice, given I know folk who only paddle flat water, or slow rivers, and, for example, refuse to even try a cranked (bent shaft) at all. I like what you show here... there are simply 'many ways' to be effective and efficient.

Your videos have been very expensive for me. I bought an IXP firebird recently (I’m 125 pounds), and picked up an on sale starlight ADK for $1k at the same time. They have been great so far, I’m just waiting on some air bags to arrive for the firebird. Ordered some from fall line canoes. Shawn has phoenix and firebird measurements now if you want some solid custom fit bags. Can’t wait to get that boat ready for some local class II runs. Still waiting on some ocoee content btw! Esquif can’t get all the attention for that boat!
