Hi Y'all. We load and haul our first load of small square bale hay to the feed store. Then we hook up the hay cutter and drop it in the field. Will the belt on the cutter make it through a cutting? Watch the video and find out!!! #farmer #farmlife #farmgirl

Hi to you all I must say that you are all doing a great job and you must be on a very big learning curve. Sorry to see the belt on the mower has gone again my suggestion is that you have a bearing which is on the way out also lower the ground speed if I remember Scott had the same problem last year all I can say is you are all doing a fantastic job have a good week

On your trailer, use a 12 volt power source such as a battery charger and connect the wires one at a time to the positive lead to see what wire feeds what on the trailer. Connect the ground from the power source to the trailer frame. In a former life, I was a trailer mechanic. Wish I was closer to assist you guys.

Just a little advice, dont use the radio and listen to the sound of the cutter , if you have a problem the sound will change, you can also adjust your mirrors and watch the crop as it comes out the back of the cutter. I have arthritis in my neck these are a couple of my tricks to help. I put a backup camera on my round baler on the pickup I can see the crop coming into the baler and I can see the net go on the bale, and I can see the bale roll out the back of the baler looking through the pickup . good luck

You can get terminals that crimp onto the wire and then the screw tightens on the solid pin which holds more solid than the strands of copper wire. They have yellow for 12 and 10 gauge wires, blue for 16 through 14 gauge wires. Yall are doing real good. Keep going. Maybe another brown wire for the running lights, if the color of wires are correct.

Belts- a little research turns up that the over running clutch may be the problem. If its not working, when you slow the engine or tractor while cutting at high speed, the inertia of the spinning cutters will 'push' the tractor, and causes the belts to reverse their loading, which means the idler pulleys are not holding tension on the belts. Clutch may have gotten stuck over the winter?

The grounding trough the ball is likely your biggest problem if the wires are all right in the plug. A good way to find out is plug it into the truck and turn on the marker lights and move the wire around the plug until the light come on then you will know. The marker lights are usually brown but sometimes trailer manufacturers don’t use standard color coding. If it’s grounded through the ball hitch you have to drive around so the rust wears off the ball to get a connection then thee lights will work. That’s why trailer lights sometimes flicker when they go down the road empty. Confusing I know so I’ll stop there because there is a ton more that could be wrong.

Great video! I would definitely hook up the ground wire because a poor ground will do weird things, from dim lights to wrong ones flashing. As far as the belt goes, there must be something out of line. However it doesn't take long for a new belt to stretch. I'm not familiar with that cutter but something funky is going on causing the belt to jump off. All the best, God bless and take care all of you!

brown/black is marker/tail lights if your brakes aren't working on trailer the the blue wire circuit needs looked at as well as the red constant power, also need a ground circuit to make sure trailer brakes work also noticed the turn signals looked dim getting on the interstate thats where a ground circuit comes in for good light illumination, also IF it started raining in the daylight hours you would really need marker & tail lights

On the mower, make sure all the pulleys that should be free spinning are doing so, grab each one with both hands and try to wiggle them, if they wiggle you got a bad bearing or bushing. That belt should be fairly tight, check the springs on idler pulleys, one could be stretched or cracked. There should be a lip on each pulley, top and bottom. look for shiny metal, missing paint. Looks like the main pulley is a double and the others are not, make sure you're using the correct groove

Check the over running clutch on the drive shaft you should hear it clicking when you idle down and the pto shaft should slow down first and let the blades wind down slowly if it all stops together it is stuck and will cause the belts to jump off.

Look the wiring pattern up online. Then, test your truck to make sure you have no issues there. Make up the connector and use a electrical grease when you put the wires in the plug. It will keep it from corroding and causing you to go back into it in a year or so. Running lights should work on the sides AND back at the same time. If it only works on the sides it can cause a short issue when you hit your brakes and that can cause that error reading on your dash. You also have a 12 volt that goes back thru that plug from your truck. I'd wire that up to. You can put a deep circle battery on your trailer (which is required over a certain load for the emergency disconnect). That 12 volt supplied in your harness /plug can recharge that battery and you won't havta do any extra work EVER if you wire it up correctly.

For the PTO circlip use a set of vice-grips. Squeeze the grips together and set them to the correct tension with the thread so they just slightly lock. Then leave them like that while you change the PTO stub. Hope that helps. Also, remember to do it before you hook up the next machine 😁😁

Howdy, I showed my farmer friend, Mitch this video, he has one of those monsters, and he thinks that your feeding the mower at more that 100% its rated "chew" rate. When you have fixed this monster try slowing the ground speed some. Mitch thinks the failure is that the belts are stretching from the load and popping off, not breaking. Good luck,

I tend to operate it a bit on the slower side as we have some pretty thick grass (not a brag, we just concentrate on certain fields.) I'm going to delve into the operators manual a bit more but we operate it on the lower speed than recommended. MPH that is. I believe we have narrowed it down to the overun clutch not working right and jolting the system.

Check all your grounds to chassis and make sure the ground from the goose neck hitch to frame is good. It sounds like the truck is fine, so it might be a broken wire... ugh... those are the worst to chase down... just get a volt ohm meter and figure out where you’re loosing power. You guys did good, even though the was small hick ups with the wiring of the trailer. One advice you can use on any wires that are hard to strip the insulation off is never to cut across the cores of the cable or wire, always in the direction the cores are running, bend the plastic/rubber to the side and nip off the plastic along the cores with a cutter. Cutting across will make the cores very easy to break and thereby loosing connection to broken cores when the wires gets stressed. I noticed it was not a screw connector on the trailer plug, but if you have any here's another tip: when putting loose core wires under a screw connector where the screw of the connection is in direct contact with the wire is to strip a longer peace, twist the cores and fold them double before putting them into a screw connector, that will also prevent the same issue.

There is also a ground that is SUPPOSED to be passed from the truck to the trailer through the lights. The hitch connection IS NOT CONSISTENT ENOUGH to consistently power turn signals/brakes/etc.

@@jayss10 sure depending on what options you have on the trailer, like breaks and stuff like that, mine didn't have that so it just grounded through the ball

Add a white wire into your plug and make it long enough to be attached to the frame. The ball DOSE not give you a solid continuous ground. Wire from truck frame through plug to trailer frame is best. Also cheek your bubs contact points. Sometimes they can get corrosion inside the light covers.

It's never ending job to fix stuff. But you guys are doing great. Love the let's tackle it attitude. You can go to Lincoln Electric website to watch videos on welding. It's not difficult for what you are doing.

Many thanks for another great video. Very beautiful landscape with you in Texas. Very similar to our landscape in North Friesland Germany. And the same sky. Flat land. I think you need a new mower without a belt. I recommend the company Krone from Germany.

Glad to see your getting more done if you can just keep ahead of the break downs As for the trailer there should be a standard wiring diagram to follow but does not always mean that's how things are wired I would also look at the underneath of the trailer for possible broken wires rodent can do a lot of damaged and if you have wiring made out of soy base plastic coating they like them even more In southern Wisconsin guys got hay down then rain again this is definitely not a good year for us to try to dry to bail hay You don't know how badly I love to be there helping making hay since I cannot get anything done here in Wisconsin Keep up the good videos

Thank you so much for your advice! I will be attempting to rewire soon and will try to find a diagram to follow. I'm sorry about your hay! We were glad to finally get a dry spell to be able to cut and bale. We're going to barely get it up before another bout of rain here it looks like! Thank you for continuing to follow us on our journey! I hope things turn around for you up there in Wisconsin.

I have found that a ground is very necessary because grounding through the ball is very intermittent and the brakes don't always work among other problems. I always run a ground to every thing to ensure proper grounding. Figure out the color code on the truck and wire the trailer to the truck.. those are never coded to Ford's. And can be a s.o.b . Be safe 😊😊

I echo the suggestion on implementing the ground on the plug here. I know for a fact that my 2006 Dodge Ram will not activate the trailer wiring plug unless it senses a ground with the trailer. While this is a strange brain child idea of Dodge/Mercedes at the time the TIPM is something that has not gone away after Mercedes sold Dodge. Wire it correctly and avoid these weird quirky issues.

Did anyone check the bulbs? If the side marker lights are working, the tail/running lights should work. They use the same power wire from the truck. There are two filaments on the bulbs. The low wattage filament is the tail lights. When you press the brake or signals the high wattage filament (bright) lights up. Trailer lights will drive you nuts but is usually something simple. I have had both bulbs bad at the same time. On another note...I had a pulley worn on my baler from all the grass and dust grinding away the V-groove. It kept chewing up belts. I replaced the pulley and prob solved. Watching from nearby Decatur Good luck and god bless.

How did you diagnose your pulley issue? The pulleys turned smooth with no noticeable issues so I don't know how to know if it's bad. The bulbs seem to run ok. The reason for this is when unlocking the vehicle, the lights turn on! Haha

Check how the wires are wired on the other trailer. There is a standard wiring diagram for trailer wires. They use a certain color wire for tail lights, certain color for left turn & stop light & a certain color for right turn & stop lights. Now on vehicles the wire colors change.

Grease the ball run ground less wear on coupler and ball but it prevents any grounding.
